I saw the gameplay demo too, the fact that everyone just ignored it is funny to me.
He is like a chink version of Todd.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Death Stranding. The gameplay is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the trigger buttons most of the traversal will go over a typical gamer's head. There's also Kojima's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his writing - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Hollywood movies, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these references, to realize that they're not just films - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Death Stranding truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the meaning behind Amelie's existential catchphrase "Like Mario and Princess 'Beach'" which itself is a cryptic reference to videogame classic, Super Mario Bros. 2. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kojima's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Norman Reedus tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

tbdesu I love kojima games but DS's strengths definitely don't lie in its writing. I hope 2 has better writing than 1 did but either way I just want to play strand type kino

>It's not a walking simulator! Kojima-san wouldn't do that.
>Okay it's a walking simulator. And that's a good thing. Americans are great fans of first-person shooters and Death Stranding isn't one, it flies higher.

Or and this might blow your mind, play something else, nobody is forcing you to play his games. Kojima has been making these lenghty cutscene games for over 40 years now, he and his fans do not care at all what low IQ zoomer scum like you have to say.

to be honest DS1 has some very interesting gameplay mechanics but it was held back by how it easy and forgiving everything was.

Kojima could release a 10-hour cutscene of Reedus crying into a jar of Monster Energy while Mads sings lullabies in Icelandic and I'd still pre-order the collector's edition. These people crying about "walking simulators" are the same dudes who've played nothing but Fortnite and Warzone for the last 5 years. Let the art flow, zoom zoom.

See this is why I hate live gameplay demos, you don't know the backstory of the player, Kojima literally said he's extremely nervous and even had stomach problems a day before so nervous was he, journos played the game for 30 hours and not a single one complained about the combat, hell they even said the combat is much better now in DS2. They 100% played on the easiest difficulty
