>>713252016 (OP)Don't go all in on Contrarianism, lads. It's not a bad basis but you have to learn to think for yourself, even if it goes against your OWN current moral framework.
I grew up embarrassingly, vocally conservative in a blue state and I thought it was as natural as a 60's Hippie rioting against the conservative area they grew up in.
Only after 3 decades am I starting to realize that it's not the republicans who want to improve my life, or the democrats already in charge of my state, but it's the furthest left, most annoyingly liberal activists who want me to be able to comfortably retire.
If you're a young conservative and just starting out, really reconsider just how much your politics are shaped by just how annoyed you are by liberals are rather than their actual policies. I got more classical liberal friends with good jobs who are becoming increasingly left wing cause they're realizing this whole corporate hierarchy absolutely deserves to come crashing down. And I got more socially conservative friends working minimum wage, shit jobs who keep getting fucked over by conservative policies and find a way to blame it all on some liberal who annoyed them.
