One VERY unrealistic thing about the game is that Clive waited so long before going balls deep into her, it should've happened mere days after reunion.
>>713255413 (OP) >The entire game is set up for Clive to find reasons to live and come back >ends with ambiguous ending
Two nukes genuinely weren't enough, I bet they thought they were subversive and deep when they greenlit that dogshit ending

I do not care for the stagger system square puts in all these. In XVI I feel like every fight has the same rhythm and pacing because of it, feels very samey

Have you not played the game? Jill is 25 pre time skip then 30 after Cid dies, the dlc is a prequel and the other one is a superdungeon gameplay one
>>713265751
Shes literally depressed and only deals with her inner turmoil after killing the one cult leader. I doubt she had much time to develop a personality when she was enalaved at Drakes Breath for years, and now forced to rebuild what Cid was doing. You kinda get a glimpse of what she would be like if you choose to take her to the market with you. Both Clive and Jill are emotionally stunted and traumatized hence why they have "empty" personalities

Clive has personality though, I like Clive a good bit. Jill just doesn't get to do anything or develop in any interesting way and even her revenge quest feels like a side quest. Really should've gotten to play as her there. You'd think that depressing backstory would make her a bit more interesting or something, it did for Clive. Then again the fact that they have very similar back story and motivation in being magic slaves seeking revenge might've been part of the problem, they used up all the good ideas on Clive and had none left over for Jill. Made her feel a bit superfluous there.

I'm kinda holding out hope they'll have an updated edition like FF12 got. Add some new features and shit, refine the gameplay, fix some padding, etc.
i don't get the hype around Jill >spends the game as a blank slate whose only role is to agree with Clive for whatever he does >gets one chapter for character development then goes back to being a blank slate >not allowed to join the main crew for the final boss

The staggering system is much more strategical in Rebirth though, due to the ATB and especially the limit system, which anon demonstrated here. >>713261942

There should have been a plotline where Benedikta went through a redemption arc and joined your party. She would have even made for a decent romance option if the idea of being Kupka’s sloppy seconds wasn’t such a repulsive idea
Why did 16 copy so much from Tales of Arise? >Former slave with fire elemental power derived from a god-like being. >Seeking answers to what happened in his past. >Ice queen gf >People with magic are oppressed >Story all about freedom >Cid and Zephyr are basically the same character in their role. >Bodies that turn into rock or liquid when all your magic is used up. >Going to new lands, meeting up with the rebellious group, destroying crystals. >Political themed plot for the first half. >Drops all pretenses of attempting to keep the political side of the conflict up and just goes "lol aliens"
am I forgetting anything?
So is Clive alive at the end or dead? Looking up discussion it seems like people believe he picked up Josh's moniker to write what happened but is it not possible that Josh spoke with Harpocrates and learned about how he swore to pick up the pen after all of it was over?

You have to use debuffs and also exploit weaknesses in Rebirth - and it is necessary in hard mode. You really have none of that in XVI. You just whack the shit out of everything while exhausting all of your abilities and waiting for the cooldowns to recharge.
FFXVI is still a great game and fun to play, but there is no denying that Rebirth has the superior combat system.
