Dunno, I didn't really keep up with his posts that much. Just noticed last week that the full game was supposed to come out soon. Then noticed the whole shitshow today, after the update has come out. He did post this back in March 16, which is the first time he mentioned that he's changing some stuff. He also mentions how a big part of the audience wanted this change. I honestly don't know where he got this from. His discord? His dreams? Though it seems like some people have went against him in his discord server after this post and got banned.

Ages ago, when chapter 1 released. I played the game. I left a bad review because I disliked it. The combat was unfun, and I distinctly recall saying the anime mannerism clashed hard with the horror aesthetic, ruining the whole thing for me. I recall saying "anime sweat drops are retarded in a horror game" or something to that effect.
I stick by my words even now, but I remember the dev replying to my review. Nothing too egregious, just somewhat sad I didn't like it.
Fast forward two years and maybe my review had a deeper effect on him than I expected?

Not every indie game is like this though, and I would go as far as to say that the opposite is the norm. DELTARUNE is a perfect example of game being updated to add more content and stuff the players enjoy, like new dialogues or items without trashing the already established story and plot. Stardew Valley would be another one where players get rewarded constantly despite the game's longevity. Pic-related shows how an indie can go crazy (in a good way) when getting appreciation, and you know they're sincere because they feel the itch to upgrade their games and give more content to the players including waifus, quests, etc. These types of 180° degree turns are a result of certain developers having personalities with narcissistic traits. That's why I always suggest playing the long game with devs who are humble and thankful to their fans rather than combative. You end up winning at the end instead of the "rockstar" types that go and burn away in minutes.

The game was complete since its release anon. You have an ending which is a nice conclusion to the story, but you have the option to mess around as long as you like with any side tasks before the ending scene in the island. The updates are genuinely extra stuff being added. The last one got new CGs to one of the side characters you can romance, and the previous to that one added a new quest with its own boss, a new character, and more CGs you can access if you complete it. So if you finish it now all you need is a single save before the ending and you can play all new stuff freely without troubles.
