While it most certainly depends on the character's passive it's actually pretty normal to completely ignore the faction mechanic and the devs, thankfully, have realized this by relaxing the limits for getting the buffs.
It wasn't a problem in 1.0 since there were so few factions and it's not a problem in 2.0 because they made it easier to match.
Honestly, Genshin's resonance mechanic is way worse because it's imbalanced as fuck meaning you shouldn't give a shit about half the roster matching while the other half receives a gigantic buff.

They just use it everywhere instead of the connecting wires and the rhythm mini-games. Including both miasma cleansing and hacking. That said, pretty sure only Yixuan has performed those so far. And those weren't fully corrupted individuals, just miasma poisoning (seriously, why the fuck do we have TWO types of Ether corruption now?). Plus MC healed Vivian unconsciously. But anyway, with all that said, 2.0 story is a fucking mess. We have literally magic now, and all the previously established story and lore went out the window. Remember when the setting was sci-fi, and the plot centered around mysterious strongbox stolen from the Whitestar Institute, inside of which was Fairy, an advanced AI, and the story trailer showed multiple other AIs, and talked about the Void Hunters? Neither do the devs. It's kung-fu and magical talismans and miasma now.
