What if a game's magic system was about asking invisible elemental spirits or maybe even deities to do your bidding? Are there examples of something like that in games? I guess divine casters are a thing but I don't know if I've seen much elemental magic being used by priests and whatever.
Would it be less satisfying thematically compared to having a personal pool of mana or using ambient mana to cast? I guess it might restrict the kinds of spells that could exist in some way or another, having to ask other beings to help you.

Oh yeah, you're right. I think in the video games they had some aspect of animal things as well like aspect of rabbit to give action points and movement and stuff like that. Have to look into the books and I guess the games again to see what they came up with.

I guess that's a way to describe what I'm thinking. I should look more into those archetypes.
I'm kind of wondering how two priests or druids of opposing or even the same "schools" of their magic fight. For example, what do systems do about whether the same god helps both, one or neither priest when they're fighting each other? I guess it would depend on the god and the circumstances but there probably are some decent rules for this somewhere.

What'd be neat is a fantasy game where there's no actual magic but instead strange time vortexs dropping shit into the world from both the modern era and sci-fi eras and since the residents of this fantasy setting are primitive as fuck, they think these things are magical artifacts that have been cast down by gods. A car? That's clearly an enchanted horseless carriage that only works when it is filled with some magical concoction that can sometimes be found in strange containers made from some baffling material that is sturdy yet strangely light. Flashlight? What the fuck is a flashlight? That's clearly a wand of light that can illuminate one's surroundings but only as long as its magical charge lasts. A rifle? Clearly a magical staff made by a mad sorcerer with a taste for the macabre that emits a deafening sound like lightning and rends foes with a gruesome unseen force. A smartphone? Nobody knows what purpose these things actually serve. When you press a button mysterious symbols with writing under them appear on it. Pretty much useless but when you touch the icon of a flower with the word gallery under it you're presented with drawings of nude women with alien features like misshapen mouths and abnormally large eyes. Most people don't have much use for it but it's relatively popular among the more decadent members of society with more perverse tastes since some of the drawings depict women with animal features and large cocks. A laser gun? Clearly a powerful enchanted rod that fires magic missiles that disintegrate anything they touch.
No magic, just a bunch of medieval morons playing around with some shit that's popped into their world through time vortexes.
