It can’t be that hard to make a good Avatar: The Last Airbender game. The original series is timeless and is easily the best animated show to come out on television.

its a cursed ip
the kind where the first thing is great (the show) and everything after is doomed to fail (the movie, korra, the live action, the sequel series and movies etc)
Anonymous No.713308276 [Report]
M8 they can't even make another good series or even retelling of the original series. The original was like the fucking definition of lightning in a bottle.

We have a new Avatar IP

There's like 4 factions right? Literally just make Harry Potter but tweak the textures, models, and dialogue. What is so hard about this.

>original show is an amazing heroes journey with nuanced characters, child soldiers while balancing humor, Asian inspired mythology and action
>sequel show is dogshit with horrible characters and killing the entire setting by making it into the 1920s
>comics are literal fanfiction that distorts the original characters personalities
>new sequel show is post apocalyptic and says that everything Aang worked toward was consumed in war and hellfire

Name a more fucked franchise.

In a not exactly perfect world they would have abused the survival crafting boom and made a large map and had people make their own benders like some kind of ARK clone but they keep throwing Avatar into as many shit devs as possible. Now in November Avatar is getting their own Magic The Gathering set of cards which is still going to be potentially cursed but sell out simply because it's Magic The Gathering.

naruto did the whole "every country is an element" setting better

Naruto didn't even begin to explore that element in any meaningful way. Naruto is actually near the bottom of shonen in general when it comes to worldbuilding, it's kind of remarkably bad.

No it didn't. Naruto is almost like the inverse of Avatar where it barely bothers to explore the actual setting the world takes place in and focuses more on power dynamics.

Unlike HP the Avatar worlds history and lore is much more detailed. Theres technically 3 Nations all of them with their own territories and cultures inspired by things like Inuits or Imperial Japan. Theres steampunk technology, war balloons, characters who can use the elements which were taught to mankind by dragons or spirits. And spirits exist and prior to Korra were marred in mystery. Each bending nation has a style so if you were going to make a game it would have to draw from the movements and defensive/offensive abilities in the show.

Water or fire bending is do able. Air is easy. Earth seems like a non starter. All 4 at once shouldn't even be attempted

Worse, they turned it into 1920's New York in a universe where white people doesn't exist.

Play Wuthering Waves. It's basically Avatar the game except with different elements. You start off as a master of light, then become darknees, and wind. The next element is probably fire or lightning.

Worse, they tried to say that the influences were based on 1920s Hong Kong even though 1920s Hong Kong, while relatively Westernized, wasn't even close to the burgeoning metropolis it would become later. In the 1920s only NYC and to a much lesser extent Chicago and Detroit were metropolises with huge skyscrapers. A lot of European cities like London, Paris, and Berlin were culturally modern but didn't have skyscrapers to nearly the same degree as we see in Korra. They just outright did not exist in Asia at the time.

They lied, there is an empire state building copy as one of republic city most iconic building and the city central station is basically penn station.
The original avatar is so much better at creative setting that makes sense with the nation theme and culture.

Yeah that's the entire point of my post lmao, it's so blatantly based off of 1920s New York it's not even funny. Trying to make a Hong Kong connection is just covering their asses.

The problem with franchises that have great world building like Avatar, Naruto, Dragon Ball etc. is that every single media made about them HAS to revolve around the main cast and their story. The only way they'll reach their potential is if they let us have our own characters that don't interact with the main cast. A new set of heroes in a different time period with your OC character among them.
