What was with the video game companies having random ass mascots? Konami had Konami Man.

That's just Japan having the need to have a mascot for everything.

Did Capcom have a mascot that wasn't a video game character?

I think Captain Commando was a mascot first and then later on they decided to make an arcade game about him, but I'm not sure

Captain Commando was created by Capcom USA for promotional use in the 80s and was revised by Capcom in Japan to be cooler for an arcade game.

They also used ninja kid, the dude from elevator action, Time Gal, the bat from arkanoid, and the Cosmo gang.

Bub and Bob havent' had a good game, and the space invaders work well for abstract shit.

But the space invaders are the big one.
