The last RGG game i have paid way too much money for. Not sure what the fuck they are smoking over there. I still don't give a shot about Ichiban. I don't think they could do anything for me to care about him. I don't care for the RPG mechanic either I just want to tiger drop some chinpira. Kiwami 3 can't come soon enough.

RGGs fault if they can't write a good fucking game after the tanned guy left. Enjoy your Snoop Dogg founding the Tojo Clan lmao

I like this game but it fell into the same pitfall as 3 and arguably 5, the story is too grand for its own good. Not everything needs to be this massive worldwide conspiracy that DETERMINES THE FATE OF ALL YAKUZA. I know people on /v/ harp on when games do this, but RGG Studio's writing is generally at its best when it's touching on actual real-world issues in Japan. Bullying, coin locker babies, Japan's relationship with China and Korea, and how ready Japanese society is to sweep anything that challenges the social harmony under the rug.

8 is not that, 8 is trying to be 3 again in the worst way.

Oh and before someone corrects me, yes I get it. I know what the game is trying to say in the metaphor, I understand that the nuclear waste throughout the plot is a metaphor for the yakuza itself. It's something people have to do something about but they don't want to do anything that actually is productive or puts responsibility on themselves so they just want to shove it somewhere and forget about it.

Just because I get it, doesn't mean I think it works

Not even RGG could demake Yakuza 3 of all games.

>I understand that the nuclear waste throughout the plot is a metaphor for the yakuza itself.

Not even RGG was thinking that far ahead when they had to find a reason for Kiryu to get cancer. If they were real about it they could've just blamed it on the cigs, which they alluded to in gaiden.

No those are 2 separate things, I meant specifically all the nuclear waste being collected on the island.

>island middle of nowhere that apparently no one can find
>no cell signal blockers, chitose can just casually livestream like shes in the middle of tokyo
this game was so sloppy

Why does Joon Gi-Han even join the party if it's legit 2 hours before the finale in a 100 hour game?

>>713326806
Nta but IW was already halfway written when Gaiden was in development, it's why Kiryu barely gives a shit about totally not Morinaga's death after everything they went through in Gaiden, because his death was written first.
Anonymous No.713327134 >>713327262
They retconned the daidoji and now the entire Kiryu story is just weird.
>at the end of 6 the daidoji wanted to bribe him with money so he doesnt say anything
>instead of taking the bribe he fakes his death (doing a massive favour to the daidoji) so that no one can use the orphan kids/Haruka to bait Kiryu into doing stuff
>Gaiden begins with the daidoji acting like Kiryu is their prisoner and that he has to pay for what he did, even though the whole thing was Kiryu's idea
>the orphans are basically immediately used as bargaining chip
not just that, but also pretty much everyone recognized Kiryu straight away in the first 2 hours of Gaiden.

Then it somehow gets even worse in Infinite Wealth, where the daidoji are about as competent as a random street gang, which makes the whole thing just feel really unserious

also
>Hanawa is Morinaga haha
what a fucking unneccessery "twist". It doesnt make any sense yet Yokoyama apparently confirmed it. What does it add to the story? He just died (again) in a ridiculously unceremonious way (again).

Again it makes a lot more sense when you remember IW was being written first and Gaiden only came out first because it was a lot less work to develop.

He's going to fuck up Yakuza 3's writing.
Mark my words.

sure, it makes sense, because yokoyama is a shit writer.

He can be a good writer when he wants to actually talk about Japanese social issues. The problem is when he does anything but that.

dont forget how you can do kiryus memories AFTER the main story reveals that hes still alive and kicking to the entirity of japan.

meanwhile his side content has everyone acting like he's still dead. extra funny when you get to the haruka one where the daidoji beats date up before they can meet to keep kiryu being alive a secret.

can anons recommend gaiden, ishin, iw and pirates to me? i consider
>y1, 2 fine with dumb second to final chapters meant to tie the plot together
>y3 falls apart after the orphanage gets demolished
>y5 has the same ups and downs as everybody else has pointed out, but i did not find anything really too bad about saejima's part
>y4, y0 and y6 are just y1 and y2 with a smoother progression
>judgment is the best game of the series, but it drags on too long before the end
>y7 and lj start out strong, turn to rotting shit then bounce back up literally right before the end and then go back to being shit
