Who needs potions with skills like these?

I know that this is a rage bait thread but I like it when you can find gear that gives hp or mp regen. It makes it worth exploring so you can have more fun traveling without worrying about potions.

Does speaking the truth make it bait?

Oftentimes, there will be a choice. You can go with the survivability option of the Regen, or take the gear that lets you do extra damage or increases your crit chance. The QoL from Regen is usually the better choice unless you're doing some self-imposed challenge.

It's a good build when the most damage you do is from items and not stats

Because potions typically instantly give you hp or mp while with regen you have to wait for it

I would argue that a druid polymorphing into a child is, assuming the druid is an adult human, still a human with the mind of an adult and the mental development necessary to responsibly make adult decisions. Meanwhile, a druid polymorphing into a bear is, while still retaining the mind of a human adult, is otherwise a bear biologically and is therefore still bestiality.
Now, why would you want to not use potions, if they stack with your regen? Are you stupid?

There's nothing wrong with that as >>713333557 explained, but Larian are all faggots so there's no chance we'll get anything like that in the inevitable BG4. I dropped BG3 in Act 1 because of how unlikable all the party members were. It's a shame, because it could've been saved with a cute, romanceable changeling/druid/vampire companion that permanently presents as an unassuming child but otherwise acts and controls as a normal party member.

Surely the other way round, if you can get HP and MP back with cheap and plentiful potions, putting skill points into regen is a waste.

Not always, anon. It depends on how the game is balanced. If potions take up inventory space, cost a lot, or have cooldowns, regen can end up being both more efficient and convenient. Especially in longer dungeons or boss fights where you donโ€™t want to burn through your entire stockpile or can't pause to heal, passive regen lets you play more aggressively. Plus, regen builds tend to shine in attrition-based encounters or when paired with tanky mechanics. It's all about context and how the devs tuned things.
