if you don't mind roblox theres a long drive ripoff called deadrails that you can play co-op. goal is to drive a train 80k miles and survive against zombies/bandits and other enemy types roaming around. same gameplay loop of the long drive colleting stuff from houses/villages to fortify and fuel your vehicle.
I've looked around a lot for things like the long drive but this is the closest one i've found that scratches that itch.

It's the most simple 4 cylinder engine imaginable, you could do worse for learning how car go than my summer car

i know shit about cars but had to rebuild a carburetor my brother left disassembled after cleaning. it was simple but kind of horrible and i would not do it recreationally.

It's a bit open ended, but the game points at different goals, like going to a concert that is far away or climb a mountain that will fuck you up your car if you are not prepared, honestly its a good concept and very comfy with some great music, but there are some aspects that kinda turns me off, still, its a fun little game and it is cheap.

My Summer Car is honestly the perfect way to learn what makes cars tick. Grab a guide, watch videos, read, tinker around, do whatever to get over that initial hurdle which I promise is a lot less daunting than you think.

Film or games, the criteria is a bit hard for me to describe, but anything that captures the feeling of a road trip, complete with just enough monotony, but kino landscapes, petrol stations etc

if you were going to try out every wrench size for every single bolt it's going to take you like 10 nonstop hours to even finish it

Building the car isn't so bad even if I have no idea what I'm doing, it's going to that stupid fucking shop and back and you can't even take a fucking bus or anything. And having to scrounge around in some random fuckoff barn with a hornet nest that you couldn't possibly know about for some fucking wheels. All that shit is just a massive gaping anus.

Putting that piece of shit car together was immensely fun. The rest of the game I didn't really care about, but it was so nice to have a game that actively just did not give a single shit about streamlining and expected you to just work out where everything went using your fucking brain.
