The original Nier was released in 2010 with mixed reviews and middling sales. 7 years later Nier Automata was released with universal acclaim and is a cultural phenomenon. 8 years later and they're doing absolutely fuck all with the franchise despite how successful the latest entry was. What the fuck is going on over in Square Enix?

Please understand they need to allocate all their resources to make the next Final Fantasy 7. They've been trying for nearly 30 years now but they'll definitely get there. Final Fantasy is still THE jrpg franchise. Just trust the plan.

Why would you make games when you can make obscure stage plays in Japan for a few dozen people?

Yoko Taro should do what Kojimbo did and make his own studio. He's literally going nowhere with Square Enix. It's either that or he genuinely likes making shitty gachas (that flop lol).

why would he? he has a cushy job at square and never has to worry about much again, he just has to oversee collaborations or do an occasional game when square pays him extra after his yearly salary. That's not to say he doesn't want to make games but that he'll only do it if someone else pays him to or he has an immense passion for an idea (which probably hasn't been the case for a while).

If you want the kino story pay offs and are committed to playing both, Replicant then Automata
If you want omega story pay offs Replicant, Automata, THEN the new content in Replicant 1.22

I got big in Taro games post Automata so me personally I do somewhat wish I played it all in order, however I also loathe Replicant's gameplay experience Post Ending A because 1.22 should have really included a chapter select, at least after Ending B. You'll understand me when you play it.

It's not however getting Ending B is valid in my mind as of course the new dialogue, but everything after that to get C/D was time wasting which should have been lessened in 1.22, even more so with then having to unlock E now. I hated the amount of times you replayed the Lost Shrine with no changes for example.
