Since Su has been at the helm they've been trying to be aggressive with their release cadence. Zen enterprise and rumored desktop chips are going to be N2. Zen 7 coming late 2027 or early 2028 will be bleeding edge N1.4 from TSMC. Both are now multichannel GAA instead of FinFET. I can't even imagine how efficient these little bastards will be.

I have been spending the past six months contemplating whether to upgrade to a 5700X from my 2600 and the reminders that a few months before I started looking, the 5700X3D costed less than what the 5700X costs now is depressing.

No need to upgrade for a while.

I've had a 3700x for the last 6 years, talk me out of upgrading.

No reason to upgrade to AM5.
>buy ryzen 1700 day one
>years pass, I need more performance
>get a cheap 3900x from ebay
>use that for a while but need MOAR
>buy a 5800x3d and sell the 3900x
>all using the same motherboard
The value to me as a customer from AM4 has been insane. Hell my motherboard even has AM3+ mounting holes so initially I slapped a silver arrow (pic related) onto that 1700 as I had it from my previous system, though I did upgrade to a liquid freezer II for the 5800x3d because I wanted an AIO and the price was right.
>>713343615$75 usd Aliexpress 5600 are insane value.

>>713345375I upgraded from 3700x to 5700 and didn't noticed a massive improvement, especially on games.
I did eventually upgraded to AM5 and 7900x but mostly because I needed faster ram speeds for compressing files and video encoding.

>>713346215>AM6 is comingSay fucking sike right now, I went with AM5 and a 7800x3d instead of getting slightly better gpu because I expected AMD to support it at least half as long as they were on AM4.

I am good really. But if the next Radeon series continues the uptrend i might upgrade early to futureproof myself.
>>713348534Consoles having good CPUs is the exception not the rule. The PS5 CPU was mediocre slop from last year the moment it was released and now 5 years later it's even worse.
The PS5 Pro is still just a PS5 except that the GPU is better - which isn't worth much with the CPU being the bottleneck. Definitely the most pointless hardware refresh in ages.
>>713348268Easy. You can't play Minecraft with RTX on unless you upgrade.
>>713349050Doesn't Minecraft use the old DXR Raytracing before it got standardized and wasn't the 1060 the last GTX card the support raytracing? Even then there's tons of custom shaders.
>>713341738if you think all instances of being a retard are equally likely then it's just as probable you drop the chip into the motherboard's LGA. And considering that you're a giant retard you probably bought a $500 motherboard, and LGA pins are pretty much not fixable.

>>713350030If some creative devs (probably indie first) make use of the tech it could lead to novel gameplay. Light mirrors gameplay. Better sound tech. Physics interaction. Basically things that wouldn't have been added to games because the performance would've been too awful but now is negligble. But these all require some technical knowledge. At the moment for games graphics not much because the fps tanks too much. For offline rendering and tooling it speeds up that process and if you're an artist using those tools too.
