For exactly the same reason Maelle would have tried to save Gustave even harder if he survived

Maelle's died in Act 2, and Gustave would've seen Alicia for the delusional lunatic she is.

I don't get why people call Gustave an emo. If anything regular Maelle is more emo than any other character.

I wish I was able to repaint him during the fight, just so he could Overcharge Versoโ€™s faggot ass back into the piano chair.

Verso disagrees, that's why he let Gustave die.
Also the thought of "Gustave would totally want himself and everybody he has ever known to die, just so his adopted sister-daughter can live in agony and probably kill herself" sounds pretty silly to me.

Imagine spending more than 20 years plotting the destruction of your sister's family just so that you can kill yourself (and everyone else in the world) and then have the gall to think that you deserve to lecture her on how life is good so that she doesn't kill herself just so that you can feel better about yourself.

Painted Verso deserve a worse fate than just playing the piano, even his own sister had enough of him by the end and specifically told Maelle to "Send me to my family" while looking at him to hammer gome the fact that he's not part of it in her eyes anymore.

To be honest, as a Maelle ending guy, I could see Gustave being convinced by Verso that this is what's best for her. Remember, Gustave at one point wanted to ignore the mission just for the sake of Maelle and Lune had to talk him out of it. He REALLY cares about her and he feels responsibility. If Verso said the right words and Gustave were alive, he could convince Gustave to stop Maelle from stopping Verso from ending the world. Would be a kino scene.

I'm tired of family-slop. Bring back romance. I feel Final Fantasy is the only one still doing it, even Atlus removed it from their last game.

There were plenty of Versofags when the game was being completed.
Now that time has passed and the NPC brainlets are gone, only good discussion is left. Verso is a fag.

Verso is right that Maelle is making him suffer for no reason, doing unhealthy escapism and running away from her family.

But Verso was also right when he said a century ago that people in the canvas have a right to exist. And that's more important.

>Gustave at one point wanted to ignore the mission just for the sake of Maelle
Because she was the one thing he still had there. He thought the mission was a dead end by that point like many Expeditioners before him.

I think he'd most likely accept Maelle's decision (more like he can't say no to her) while slowly grinding her into leaving over time.
