I'm an old man and I hated it, and I got it for Christmas as a lad. The randomizer elevates it to a 10/10 though, but as a standalone game I'd consider it almost unplayable.

This was my first Zelda game and I beat it without ever looking up what to do when I was 11. Unlike Zelda 1 and 2 where you have to resort to using a guide for the smallest hint none of it is mandatory in ALTTP.

I blame Skyward Sword for the start of the downfall of Zelda as it looks like a tech demo for ultimately turned into BOTW, and millennials love that game to death. I hate the open world direction they're going with now, even if Echoes of Wisdom takes place in the ALTTP world.

Oddly, my older cousin doesn't care about it, he's barely even heard of it. He knows about anything NES and older, and anything N64 and newer. But not that specific era. I think he just played PS1 only and ignored Nintendo until the N64 came out.

It's just not that fun relative to modern experiences that have a lot more interactivity and dimensionality to the experience.

Awakening still works because its so tightly designed and short.

I'm almost 40. I played this game back in the 90s, but not on release. I wouldn't say I hate it, but I would say it's overrated, I rank it as one of the lower Zelda games, and it's mediocre.

Where am I supposed to go after the first dungeon. I tried twice and dropped it both times cause I have no idea where to go. This is genuinely the only Zelda game to do this to me and I just refused to look it up before, but I really should play through this game

I know there are people who disagree but there's something about the world and npcs in AlttP that feel so bland and forgettable. Maybe it's the spritework and poop palette. I'm glad that future Zelda's added races like gorons and gerudos and zoras (not evil ones).

I'm a zoomchad, not a s.o.yllennial, and I like ALTTP a lot.
The only problems I have with it is how obtuse some of the pathing is on a first run. It's really fun to replay

I like enjoying the stories in these kinds of games, and the story in Link to the Past is lighter compared to all the games that came after.
