I know none of you care, but fuck it. FFXII wasn't a good FF game, but it was the best game in the series. The upcoming FFT remaster is the limpest cash crab SE has produced yet. WotL and XII are the peak of the franchise and they weren't even developed by the core studio.

Also, my main party is Fran, Ashe, and Penelo, and that spells "FAP," and that will never not be hilarious.

Why not? I liked it. The story felt unfinished and somewhat aimless, but there was a real soul to it that is hard to match. It and 9 are the only truly soulful Final Fantasy games made after 7. It's in my top 5.

Hell they are even forced into the F A P order in the UI

A lot of people criticize the game for the main character of the game not being the main character of the story but I loved that aspect. Being a regular ass person getting swept up and along for the ride in the most important events of your time is an interesting perspective.

Normally, I wouldn't give the writers the benefit of the doubt, but they definitely did the best with the hand they were dealt.

I say it's not a good FF game like how FFT wasn't a good FF game. Both were fantastic games in their own right. The FF moniker was just used to bolster their presence. Like, I'm sure FFXI and XIV are fantastic MMOs, but I would never claim them to be good FF games, i.e. single-player, story-intensive games with little nuance or subtlety.

I agree with you that the MMOs don't count, but you seem to have a very weird definition for what a real FF is. Especially when you consider what the first two games in the series are.
