I wanted to play this, maybe also the mario 64 and majora ports if/when they happened, but my vita broke years ago

Ah, that probably explains a lot. Can't they just port the N64 version instead? I'd probably just install it on android instead so I can play it at a higher fps.

the problem with that is that it's an N64 rom that ran on a Gamecube emulator, most issues probably stemmed from people emulating the Gamecube ISO, which emulates the N64 rom,

4.1" on 4:3 isn't bad, plus there's a surprising amount of 16:9 content thanks to portmaster. And what do you mean 3:2, you WANT 16:9 for 3:2.

The only shitty things about the Vita were the memory cards and losing first party support to fast,
as for what it offered at the peak it was kind of the last hurrah of old PS before Sony would bite the ESG and PC bait, now we're getting multiplat sloppa like pic related.

I'm glad I swapped this thing out with a Deck, the only caveat is that it's fucking massive.
Most of these Vita ports can probably be played on a Chinkheld with portmaster, I think portmaster actually supports MORE games now that I think about it.

This thread (and these types of thread) make me question the userbase of /v/, in intense orders of magnitude; some obscure patch for a 20+ year old game on an old handheld device, 60 fps gets posted and their are a bunch of people who actually care... its 2025 if you like handheld gaming, how do you NOT have a steam deck, or some other more capable device than a fucking psvita?? like holy fuck, genuine question, how poor is the userbase of /v/??
You would have to be unemployed for decades not to be able to afford a an open source windows handheld I dont get it.

OoT on GC is almost literally the same as the N64 version. The decomp only used it over the N64 version because the GC version had useful debug tools left in it by the devs. The PC port is dogshit because harbormasters are retards.

i have a deck, switch 1 and 2, and a decent phone, but i still use the vita all the time. fits in a pocket and plays good games. even just walking around the house, you'd have to lug around a case for anything else. you can just bring a vita anywhere unless your pockets are stuffed full.
big handhelds like the deck aren't in the same league. if you were sperging about pocket-sized android chinkhelds instead, you'd still be gay, but at least you'd have an argument.

It was widely discussed back then, there's wasn't any FPGA able to simulate a circuit like 3DS's at the time, not to mention that'd have meant some chink did all the reverse engineering all by himself, which is unfeasible due to all the tools and labor it requires.
It was probably just an emulator that would read ROMs from the cartridge, or maybe they faked that as well.

will never ever work
>toy os with no software support (can't run photoshop, CAD tools, modeling tools, video editors, and other shit)
>locked down tighter than fucking iOS. locked bootloader and only signed software from the store allowed (was hilarious when windows RT golden keys leaked and people started jailbreaking them)

>the steam deck only has an 800p screen and its APU isn't the most powerful thing ever
Still more efficient than basically anything at the size per watt. There's nothing about x86 that makes it inherently inefficient, that's tech illiterate babble.

main problem with x86_64 is you can't just suspend it and turn it back on in 2 seconds. shit breaks badly if you do that. especially games

Because x86 is power hungry and resource intensive compared to ARM. Most of these handhelds use stripped down linux or android.

Getting Windows on something like that and have it run decently is a bitch anon. There's a reason they don't use windows.

We'll get there but it's still going to be a decent chunk of time.

Look how far we were with handhelds just a few years ago.

I remember playing Ocarnia of Time on my PSP with Daedalus. Sure it was only playable if I disabled audio, but still, seeing OOT running on my PSP was incredible at the time.
