Reminder that the Switch 1 had 20% software sales on its first 4 weeks. The Switch 2 is still doing better then that.
That said, there are no good third party games for the Switch 2 right now that didn't come out on PC or old platforms already, so it's to be expected.

The games are simply too expensive. Especially after buying an expensive console and an expensive controller. Everything has gone up in price. Late ports for 100 CAD is too much.
That said, once people have recovered from spending so much on the console/controller/Mario Kart, I do believe the software sales will pick up.

I'm not sure about that, there's so many Switch 1 games they can play instead and the games that ran poorly got "free upgrade patches" just for hitting a stable 30 fps now on stronger hardware. The Switch 1 was a complete library reset so people bought more games early on to justify buying a new console but the Switch 2 will probably be like the PS5/XSX where people just play old games instead or even buy older cheaper games instead of these $70-$80 new ones.

I feel like people don't understand that they did this on purpose. Because it's exactly the lesson Nintendo learned from the WiiU. Back then, developers were complaining that their releases got overshadowed by first party games, so the WiiU's launch period was left to third parties. You can just see it in their E3 presentation that year where all they had was Nintendoland, and everything else is about ports and third party games. It was a disaster and they're never going to do that again. What they're doing now is going as far as to tell third party developers, hey, don't release your games now, let us build up the customer base first. I suspect that's also why Nintendo's being so stingy with devkits.

People bought the Switch 2 because they wanted to be "in" on something, not because they actually care about playing games.

Games are too expensive, most of the games are ports of older games, and the game key cards are scam. It also sucks to see that loading off of the cartridge is significantly slower than loading from the built-in storage or even a micro sd express card (MKW 25 sec on cartridge, 15 sec digitally). Just weird all around, most people probably don't know about the load time thing at this point but they will. Nintendo fucked up the cartridge situation, probably intentionally.
