>>713362324sales is one thing but cultural impact is another. PC gaming has always been niche and expensive compared to console gaming. When the steam deck came out most people thought it was just a proof of concept handheld pc that only the steam fanboys would buy. Then it turns out it's basically a switch that can play steam games, run linux, and emulate a bunch of different things. Suddenly Asus, legion, playstation, and now Xbox are taking the handheld pill. Now compared to the switch, the steam deck is still relatively niche, but it has broken through to get mainstream attention. Its perfect for people that want to play games that aren't on the switch/ps5 but don't want to deal with the financial sink and puzzle of building a computer with gpu, cpu, power supply etc. I remember seeing pictures of rappers holding a deck, saying it flopped because of a number just doesn't seem entirely truthful.
