The equivalent of this area in Gen III is Route 103. In Gen IV, it's where the story begins, you hear about the red Gyarados, you get your first PokΓ©mon, you return following the climax to find Mesprit which causes it to roam, and if you play with Ruby or Sapphire inserted, you find wild Solrock and Lunatone. You can also find wild Surskit swarming post-game and use the PokΓ© Radar to find wild Wobbuffet. For a relatively simple early game area, there are a lot of reasons to return to it.

Gen IV simply wasn’t as good as those before it or as good as V, but it had some peak moments. As painful as that trek to Snowpointe was, it was one of the last times the series made me feel alone on an adventure and quietly begging for salvation around the corner.

This route in particular is an example of things they do which I like, where you visit a route early game and then later have tools to grab a secret thingy. Like this spot or the Soft Sand girls south of Goldenrod

Weird because I played Emerald when it came out (along with previous Gen III games) and I played DP and DP was the better experience. It felt more like Gen II than half-finished Hoenn

I actually just started a playthrough of Pokemon Platinum for the first time, for some reason I had never touched Gen IV. I played I & II at release, skipped III and IV, and came back with V & VI.
I tried Sun & Moon but it was just endless cutscenes and tutorials, I don't even think I made it to the first gym.
Who's your favorite Pokemon, /v/? We never talk about it because of the other board.
Mine's Jigglypuff.

When you go inside the cave, the puddle is based on the map of Sinnoh. The dots form a triangle representing the Lake Pokemon. Mesprit to the southeast. Uxie to the North. Azelf to the Southwest.
Sinnoh is peak of Pokemon lore. They thought of every stupid little detail. Also the piano music...

Pokemon never looked good, fuck the nostalgia. The maps looked like they were made with the square/circle select tools in RPG maker. Pokemon's contempories like link's awakening and final fantasy adventure look 10 times better.

GEN 1 MONSTER BUG DUO FOR LIFE also Heracross

>I tried Sun & Moon but it was just endless cutscenes and tutorials, I don't even think I made it to the first gym.
The tutorials are truly endless. Sun and Moon is the Skyward Sword of the Pokemon series. If the hand holding and cutsceneing was reduced, and the content was distributed in a less boneheaded way it could be a genuinely great game. For me, it's the last actually tolerable Pokemon game but I understand why people can't stomach it. I see it as a big missed opportunity.

That route was really cool and had one of the best songs in the game, followed by one of the comfiest towns in the entire series.

This.
If you weren't alive for the hype around Generation 1 into Generation 2, you just weren't there and will never understand.
This is what makes Pokefags so pathetic, it's a fundemental truth of life they will reject again and again and again.
Generations I, II, and V are all that matter.
>the groundbreaking original
>the perfected sequel
>the masterful remix
That's all you need. Anything else in the main game franchise is disposable.
