I have the r36s, so far I've played: Tokimeki Memorial (translated snes version), the nds pokemon games (except the sinnoh ones), Xenogears and I've touched a little bit of gba games like minish cap or metroid fusion
I expected it to be shit and last like a month but the bitch is still here almost a year later and the buttons are still like new, even the fucking A and B buttons

I was considering getting one (particularly one called R36 Ultra) but I've heard so much mixed shit about these things, than the battery is godawful and last very little and its dangerous to charge, that there's a lot of fake ones that have worse performance, that the buttons are prone to break and that some dont recognise certain micro sd cards.

After doing a lot of research and reading user reviews, I decided not to buy any of these handhelds from China. One thing I particularly can't stand is bad buttons, and it was this part of the video that made me stop thinking about buying one of these:

https://youtu.be/A4E8h0kUF6A?si=ZMNwXjsN-lrfC3K4&t=319

You can tell just by the sound that these buttons are total garbage for anyone who has any standards when it comes to playing video games.

The appeal of the R36 was that it was cheap for extremely cheap people, the buttons were always shit, and now you have to play russian roulette with clones. No point saving $10 anymore when you can get the 35xx Plus or even the Miyoo Mini Plus, as slow as it is, both at least have the buttons down to a science. And the charging shit is as simple as not frying them with fast chargers and USB C to C cables.

I'd honestly say all of those are true because in order to purchase this little shit you have to use a guide on reddit (inb4 redditfag whatever you want anon) where you can get a list of trusted sellers + a list of the sd cards that the r36s allows, I don't know why but it will only acept 3 or 4 precise models/brands of sd card
Besides, afaik, these things are made with secondhand/spare parts or something like that so the quality can be a lottery

Idk if I should get a rp5 or a steam deck OLED. I want them for different reasons.
1)Retroid pocket 5: so I can emulate 2d and "early" 3d up to the ps2/gamecube and also to save my phone's battery since I emulate on it.
2)Steam Deck OLED: so I can do the same but also pirate some old games like Skyrim and what not. Maybe get a few modern games(Nioh) to keep me from getting a new console since they're all pretty gay nowadays.
I thought about Ayn Odin 2 Portal as well but it costs as much as a Steam Deck.
I just want something comfy, I'm old and I can only spare 1 or 2 hours a day for gaming during the week.

Doesn't Nioh run like shit? If you don't have many PC games in mind and you're already accustomed to mediocre PS2 on Android, you might as well save up and settle for the Portal, better ergos. You're not pocketing the RP5 anyway.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjukUYVII3U&t=283s

Grab the RP5 and you can use moonlight to stream console games onto it, use it for a while and see how you like it before dropping more money on a steamdeck if you wanna play bigger games.

>>713382105
Fairly sure RP5 should allow you to play more than early PS2/GC. As for Deck it's super comfy but depending on how you hold it your arms can get numb fast. Just don't put the weight all on your elbow (or don't be a liftlet). Again Deck is a bit of a brick. Both sound good and both should mostly work out of the box but if you only have 1-2h/day then probably RP5.

That's solid too, fantastic screen, but some people don't like it uses the metal backplate as a heatsink so it can get too hot. That can be solved by removing the thermal pad between the chip, if you're not afraid of opening it.

Your choices on cheap but not shit verticals are:
35xx Plus (superseded by the G350 probably)
G350 (avoid the 35xx Pro which is actually just the G350 rebranded, you're not using the sticks on a vertical)
Miyoo Mini Plus
Brick
