Ironically the one thing I really remember well about the Silent Hill movie was the original ending they gave it.

Everything else was kind of wonky, trying to be a slasher film adapting the cult story and the exploration of the town in a non-interactive format, but I thought the ending was tragic and properly haunting.

Indeed, that's my problem with him doing Silent Hill since it's a psychological horror and he clearly doesn't understand it's themes or simply doesn't care and want go all style. He also did a Beauty and Beast with Lea Seydoux and Vincent Cassel that had zero depth and that's something for a simple fairy tale. That movie is so beautiful but absolutely soulless.
