As much as I'd like to play first-party N titles on my iPad I highly doubt this. Most of their software development costs are recouped by overpricing their accessories, they wouldn't be able to get away with going without a hardware moat.

They have a secondary problem with the Switch 1 and Lite, the longer those are in production, the longer they have to support the platform. If they don't kill the Switch 1 lineup in the next two years the Switch2 will remain too expensive for the consumer base to adopt.

My brother likes to buy or scavenge broken PS4 controllers to repair them as a hobby and he collects them or gives them to frens. He has gone through 12 PS4 controllers of varying pcb versions and conditions, not even one had a stick drift.
