I think for the sake of managing expectations, people should at least consider that the festival might not happen in chapter 5. The setup for the flower king dark world, the dark world itself, and whatever fallout it has, could take place in the morning before the festival and be plenty of content to fill a chapter. All of the foreshadowing for chapter 5 relates to the flower king and not the festival, too.

I actually think this could be likely since chapter 6 seems to be a big turning point before the author is "swallowed up" by his creation in chapter 7. It would make for a great set piece to have the entire town gathered together for whatever crazy shit is going to go down.

I don't really spend much time in the DR community. What do people think of the implications that the town is sealed off from the outside world, with the internet being down and the TV only getting reruns? There's plenty of possibilities, but I lean towards the idea that the town and its inhabitants literally popped into existence when the game began with invented histories and relationships, since it mirrors Toby's metanarrative obsessions.

Leads to the neutral path. The ending of this path is the just the pacifist but cut off early. The pacifist route has an extra few hours of content and it MUCH better. Asriel did that and the humans riddled him with bullets. How can you seriously ask Asgore to do the same? It sounds small and petty but considering that the Dark World is a fictional reflection of the Light World, and the dark fountains are molded after their creators, that small thing could have been stretched into a huge deal.
