>>713387601Metroid Prime got notoriety for it's great use of Gamecube hardware through art direction and also some good music tracks. It showcased how strong the Gamecube, in other words. Playing the game was a struggle even at then, but it got a pass because there hadn't been a Metroid game of any sort for many year since it skipped the N64. Also it got a pass at the time because it was categorized not as an FPS but an FPA (First Person Adventure) as to not put it in direct competition with games like Halo 2 and even Timesplitters. Finally, Gamecube had slim pickings whole PS2 and Xbox were getting basically everything gamecube was but better or more feature packed, so Metroid was the Gamecube Only gamer's "Halo" and they treated it as such.
I've beaten Metroid Prime a few times, but I have no intention of starting a new save anymore. Whenever I tried, I'd get to a certain point, get bored and put the game down. Legitimately Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Dread (I never played the 3DS game) are all better than the Prime games.
