so did he abandon the project or not

isnt the whole "streamers dont afdect sales" about streamers affecting sales negatively
you know when you can just watch the whole game on youtube

I've seen plenty of games fail even though a streamer played it. Mostly live service games. Paying a popular streamer to play it doesn't guarantee succeess all the time. Babylon's Fall failed but I think they did advertising too late when the game was already set to be die. There are also a few games who which had copious amount of e-celebs put in it but didn't sell as much as you think with their involvement. The recent leak of the Yakuza game sales being an example of that.

Yeah it's over, shit sucks cuz it's was one of the only games I was looking forward to.

perhaps anecdotal evidence but i have shipped 3 games in the last 5 years. several big name streamers have played them, they did fuck all in terms of sales. youtubers on the other hand, that shit prints money. even short reviews by relatively smaller ones are always a noticeable boost at the very least in wishlists. with streamers is like nothing happened at all.

Dreamsettler? One of the devs threw a huge tantrum on the Discord server, and according to that guy Jay had been complaining about development for over a year at least. He was really upset and Jay had to tell him to calm down and asked if he was drinking. Seems like it's very much over.

I would say that it is inconclusive.
Streamers probably bury very linear, story heavy games but may help boost sales of roguelites or games with high replayability.
As for co-op games like Lethal Company and REPO, hard to say if it is streamers jumping on a trend or contributing to boosting sales.

Fully agree. I'm close friends with a dev who had his game played by several big time streamers and it barely blipped his sales. One of those streams had 2000 viewers at the time.

I dunno.

>>713422643
Apparently the guy was hoping to break into the industry so the cancellation must have felt like a slap to the face or something. I dunno.

Someone fellating your game in Youtube is the only avenue where you can always see a markedly big jump in sales.

Highly depends on how memeable your games are.
Streamer powers work best on retarded streamer bait games, while youtuber reviews work best for more serious single player titles.

"Hey man, you're going to step away from this project could you at least let me take the reins? You know I'm a lot more passionate about it and you'll still get a percentage of sales."
That's all it would've taken.

Jay comes across better here, but he also comes across as extremely self-centered.

"Have you been drinking, you're usually really nice."

Dude, previously you were his boss, so he was nice to you. Now you've just shitcanned him and thrown away the project he was working on, he doesn't need to play nice to you anymore.

He's absolutely right that having his boss constantly venting about cancelling the game would be extremely stressful and Jay seems to have zero regard for any of that. End of the day, he's right, he should have been notified, even if he was told it was "on the table."

Maybe someone else will pick it up, but it's a big task.

>>713426427
He did later admit he shouldn't have said that drinking thing but I imagine the guy is emotional and not thinking straight. Well, both of them.
