If someone only played 1 (one) Zelda game which one should it be?

Also, if a person only owned 1 (one) Nintendo console ever, what one would you choose?

ocarina. it's not the best one but it is the most historically significant one
>Also, if a person only owned 1 (one) Nintendo console ever, what one would you choose?
not sure what the point of this question is so I'm going to assume this includes a typo and you meant "if a person COULD only OWN one Nintendo console" to which I answer: get a PC.

Ironically enough, the waggle forced Nintendo to really put the effort into making a lot fun and interesting first-party titles, since god knows third-party devs ain't gonna touch that shit.
It's a shame the success of the Switch has made them so lazy.
Also people joke about Nintendo "dark" and "edge" with the spongebob rollercoaster meme, which is in many ways true. But you have to admit there was a sort of drama and attempt to be "grand" and "epic" during the Wii era. Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Brawl's Subspace Emissary, all went much harder with their story than any other generation of Nintendo games.

Well I thought it was reasonable to assume you would understand that you were to be that hypothetical person that only owned one Nintendo console and hypothetically which console would you prefer it was, were it you.

I'm sorry to say, but 90% of Zelda games are trash
you only fondly remember them because of your nostalgia, if you play them now, it's you chasing that high from your childhood
you have a zoomer play any of the games you hold dear, they'll just get bored and quit almost immediately

But if I had to pick one, it'd be either Link to the Past or Zelda 2.

I've never played one, I am prepared to be disappointed. They were so hyped though, Ocarina was, massively. It can't be that bad, can it? Or buy a Scalextric instead.

Most of the games you mentioned were also released on game cube which proves that waggling is totally optional. Also "dark and edge" thing is related to the culture of that time period not to the Wii itself

I can get a good SNES for cheap, and could play Populous and James Pond on it, for cheap also. A good copy of Legend though is big bucks, $200 or there abouts. A good copy of Ocarina is not too expensive $55, boxed. I'm not sure how much the N64 will set me back.

But I agree that the slight edge was a trend of the times and it's a shame that modern gaming is so pussified that you can't even have Animal Crossing villagers get mad at you.

I am not seething about young people, they have their own interests, not dusty, clunky old games, you're forcing your nostalgia down their throats, that is not a healthy obsession

Back in the day you had no choice, you played what you were given, even if a game sucked. You stuck with it because it was the only thing you had.
Nowadays people have a choice, and no new people choose to play many of the shitty games of the past.
There still are games that hold up to this day, many of the Zelda games just don't.

Wii has all the Gamecube games and Wii games, Virtual Console for 64 games and older, it is the best option if you can only have one console unless they wake up and put retro games on the switch 2

>If someone only played 1 (one) Zelda game which one should it be?
Ocarina Of Time, N64.

>Also, if a person only owned 1 (one) Nintendo console ever, what one would you choose?
WiiU.
The jailbreaking is very easy, and emulation is crazy easy on it. You get access to 40+ years of gaming in a single HDMI capable system.
Wii is close second for all reasons mentioned, minus HDMI.

Gamecube is OK choice as a console-only.
It has great library of its own, the Zelda Collection pack gives you access to the 4 earliest Zelda games, the GBA player essentially allows you to play GB-GBA titles on big screen.

Ignore the zoomer doomers. They hate any and all VIDEO GAMES, as in anything that's not a casual movie-game action slop.

Yeah yeah, different player types et cetera, but the fact is: there's not a single outright BAD Zelda game. They are pure vidya ludo at its best, with different tones and play styles depending on the title you play. Even the very OG 1986 game is very playable and exciting IMO.

WiiU is literally Wii 2.0, with better specs and HDMI. It also has native access to Breath Of The Wild, and the oldschool Wii Store versions of various retro Nintendo titles (no subscription needed, you own the titles). And via hacking, you get all that + then some for free.

I've only ever played Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. I used a strategy guide for both. When I was child my home burned down, and I was only able to save my GameCube while my family perished in the fire. I alone survived. I'd say the Nintendo 64 is my favorite console though.

Literally who gives a fuck?
They're 10-20 years old dead systems, with tons of abandonware games you can only get off scalpers these days.

Both Playstation and post-GC Nintendo owners all jailbreak their systems, because there's literally no reason to.
Also funfact: although WiiU lacks the support for playing the GC's mini-discs, it still has the GC hardware, meaning the games run natively on the system.
