You could have said "I've been posting exclusively on Reddit since 2014 and just got here from a /r/shitpost thread instead of typing all the nonsense out. You wouldn't remember that the reason why the only meme your generation can produce is yet another low effort frog image, or paying for an artist to draw soijaks so you can shitpost them while you lose, was due to mods making OC threads against the rules around 2010 or so.

I miss pre-AI 4chan. Drawthreads were fun and it was fun to doodle for "Save the Princess" threads.
Don't have any reason to draw or doodle anymore. Making any OC here is pointless, and the few times I have started some project or plan for a fun thread, I remember it would probably get just deleted or nobody would participate. I'm not taking a 3 day ban after drawing/editing something. I rather focus making stuff for some Discord servers instead where people appreciate even my shitty stuff.

Yeah but you could at least sometime find some requests. To be honest I stopped doodling there when I realized some of my deliveries were for the bot requester.
STP threads I miss the most tho, and the excuse to draw silly lewds. AI just made my doodling skills 100% irrelevant.

Trump 2016 was a major cause of shittification across most websites, and /pol/ was certainly a mistake for here, but the whole Gamergate fallout in 2014 played its own bigger part for 4chan specifically. It's still crazy how that one got hijacked so easily.
At the very least, 4chan being an anonymous website that scares away most sponsors means it's still more useable than most places, especially the social media sites like Facebook. The most 4chan has ever really had to do is just break the NSFW and SFW boards into 4chan and 4channel. And so whilst you still have to wade through piles of shit here, at least it's still functioning like 99% of the other websites.

I enjoyed doodling and drawing for anons. Now there really isn't anyone I can doodle/draw for as AI can handle that much faster now. STP threads were fun but mods instantly deletes those and just posting in them gives you a ban.
I'm not an artist, so this isn't some "AI ruined my art career" shit or something. Just that fun doodling for anons on the side kinda became irrelevant. I don't necessarily enjoy drawing itself that much, but more the fact that I can deliver something for someone who wants it.

Also I will add that wojak/soijak and pepe edits are more popular than other OC stuff. So it makes it bit frustrating. I considered if I should also do some wojak edits but I despise them despite how popular they are. Maybe I'm the newfag here and should shut up.

On the flip-side, AI 4chan was insanely fun if you didn't hate AI. The first like idk like 9 months of /g/'s AI art threads were amazing and the /v/ threads were fun for a while after Dalle 3 came out. I also really enjoyed the AI voice threads before they paywalled that, and the various other AI FOTMs that popped up too.

I think you touch on a bigger issue of just how this board is now more than anything. Retarded jannies aside, I just think the site isn't really conducive for those kind of fun threads anymore. There isn't much you'll get out of doing requests or anything when it's almost immediately drowned out by ragebait or shitposting. It mostly just makes me feel old as I find myself contributing less and less to threads nowadays because I just don't really see the point. But also my time on /v/ has been drastically reduced as I opt to just post on slower boards instead.

I'm not going to read this thread since it's going to be 600 posts of AI flamewars that somehow never end, but 4chan never made games. A few people on 4chan made games while the other 99.99999% sat on its butt refreshing the page all day. I'm of course included in that latter group.

Every single creative endeavour on 4chan eventually develops unemployed, sour angry schizos, who make it their mission in life to make it fucking miserable to be there, like mold. /v/'s creative side was dead long before AI hit.

It's no fun participating in drawthreads when you know that the first 90 requests have been recycled from the last 400 threads and everything from that till bump limit is just arguing about that. All the agdg threads are just miserable discord drama. Everything devolves into drama.

So, here's the cool thing about being here for so long. You can immediately tell who's a bot/shill and who's an actual person now by their stance on AI. Nigga I quoted just said he feels like AI made his doodling irrelevant, not fully rendered pieces, not his indie animation or even game design idea, his fucking doodles. I guess its possible to feel super insecure about AI to the point where you just immediately give up on anything but he also praised draw threads which haven't been good since 2014 bare minimum.
>>713422354
This is just another way to keep AI in the general zeitgeist of the site. A constant DALL-E general, constant bait threads, and invade other bystanders as well ( "Zelda girls" threads being a huge victim of these). /ic/ is Basically overrun with AI shills and since it was all mostly crabs they take the bait and amplify it to a degree that not even /v/ could reach.

Finally, the only creative thing /v/ produced that was good is that visual novel about thr handicapped girls. That also came out in like 2014-2015. Now, since this site sucks and third world-worlders have internet too theres no point in trying to organize here over anywhere else.

This website is dead.

I think this is the right way to look at it.
It was ok back then because 4chan as a while was a pretty "undercover" site where people sort of didn't this site. But today?
4chan might as well be as mainstream as it gets, not to mention this site has a pretty long history. To the point where it has completely different sites just rooting for its downfall.
I don't really think that AI has anything to do with the downfall of creatives on 4chan. The writing on the wall has been there for while a long time already.

Yes, at this point since 4chan isn't that isolated community anymore. So why stay here if you are a creative?
There are better communities out there, and ones that aren't going to drag you down once you have reached the top. Almost every single successful creative that made it big, started to disassociate themselves from 4chan completely.

I don't hate AI, I think it perfectly exposes how uncreative 99% people are. Given the most powerful generative tool trained on the collective experience of countless masters that dedicated their lives to their craft and all people want to produce is goonslop, it's like a goonslop artist, but worse, because one actually takes skill while the other just requires watching a 3 hour setup if you want to run locally, even less time if you use online models. C'est la vie.

Unfortunately this seems to be the way the entire internet is going. I find myself spending less and less time even interacting with others when it feels like the majority of them just want to spend all day ragebaiting. I don't know if it's something where I'm just looking back with rose tinted glasses but it felt like the act of trolling used to be at least a little more fun a decade or so ago. Or maybe I'm just older and more jaded now. But a lot of trolling nowadays is just boring and exhausting. It's the same pol ragebait, it's the same consolewar shitposts. And it's not even like it's interesting OC or anything being made. It's just the same 10 twitter screencaps, steam sale charts, etc.

I just feel so tired of the internet in general but I have no where else to go so everyday I wake up and open the tab again.

it's funny because Abstract Expressionism (the modern art that everybody shits on) was pushed by the CIA in the 1950s to win a cultural war against Russia's soviet realism. This led to artists like Polock and eventually the commodification of art via the likes of Warhol.

The death of art and the disdain for art as whole within our American culture is very much a direct result of our government psyoping the American public.

In case it isn't obvious already, our government will push hard for AI art to be embraced by the public to make resistance to the removal of AI regulations less likely so they can win the war against China for AI supremacy. By supporting AI art you're just going along with the plan. Long term consequences be damned of course.

For me it did that but for almost all artists, not just the average one making trash. I think AI is as good as any professional is, or even better, for the things its capable at doing.

I think AI WILL find it's place within art and our culture whether people like it or not. I've been very skeptical about it, clearly, because of its unethical origins, but to deny it will be used and put my head in the sand is retarded. So I've messed around with it out of curiosity, as I'm sure many artists have. I think, that a lot of artists that work in the industry are rightfully excited about what it promises. There's a whole lot of shitty repetitive work that nobody wants to do, AI can help with doing those tasks. For the more fun tasks that people love doing, it's good, but hard to wrangle into what you want, so often times it serves more as a springboard for ideas.

People push back against it, for many valid reasons, as well as many really stupid reasons that aren't really based on anything but their feelings. It will find it's place and artists who use it that are transparent about their use will eventually find their place in the art world as well. Imo, transparency is the most important factor in getting artists to accept it. That and the faggots on both sides that see it as some pointless war. It's not going anywhere.

Also it's funny seeing the seething reaction when you compare AI with piracy.

So your argument is that the machine can be immoral? You fucking dumbass. It's how you, the human, uses it.

All existing copyright laws are enough to cover any morality argument. If someone is impersonating someone else or stealing work, obviously that's wrong and illegal. But if they're using a tool to make something new which is what 99% of AI artists are doing, then it's fine. There are zero moral qualms here if you aren't a drooling retard because no one owns an art style. And that's all AI is letting people easily access.

AI slop is unbearable for one reason and one reason only: it simply doesn't understand.
Everything is ones and zeroes with it, from it's interpretation styles, to what all the pixels should be based on previous analysis. Artistic AI doesn't understand why the text input keeps asking for bigger and bigger breasts, or why the negative field always has some variation of corrective language, preventing it from acting on its own account.
It simply doesn't understand, and it's that exact reason why it will ALWAYS be inferior to the real deal.
AI may be the future, but I loathe to be alive the day it is capable of comprehension.

Right now I'd argue that most AI supporters are in the honeymoon phase and failing to see the writing on the wall. The reason that services like chatGPT, Gemini, online image diffusion hubs like CivitAI(already going through what I'm about to describe btw) are free and accessible right now, is because we are in the market capture phase. They want to foster reliance, dependence, integration. Once the market has found its balance, they will begin ramping up prices, severely limit free models. Essentially paywalling being a skilled worker. How can one afford not to pay if its a job requirement to know how to use these tools? The world needs an actual open source AI alternative, one that won't do the shit that openAI did where they claimed they were only to turn around and say nah we wanna be a for profit company now. All a discussion for when people are being met with the actual ramifications of allowing these companies to go unchecked. it is what it is.

AI is open source and it will only get more open source in the future because as it improves, so do us all. Meaning more people can make more things using AI, such as more open source AI.

Your logic is based on nothing but wishful thinking. Closed source AI having a price isn't even a bad thing, you're probably pitifully poor if you're scared of renting a GPU.

Yes most new models utilize synthetic data anyways so you would just fill more of the dataset with it.
>HURR DURR AI POISONS DATASETS
Not really. Maybe a couple years ago when AI shit was still pretty bad and couldn't even get hands and faces right but we're way past that stage.

That's just proof of people being lazy.

The main issue with AI is the barrier of entry is so low that any retard can use it. So you just have a higher percentage of users who are visually retarded and simply don't care that slop looks like slop or has glaring errors because there is a pair of tits or whatever in the image.

Why do most drawfags feel threatened by AI, just paint on a real canvas and paper little bro. Better yet, get clay pilled or something. Music solved this dilemma ages ago via concerts and merchandise

these days so much on internet content posted is just bots AI generating content for more bots that finding good new data is hard, that's why zuckerberg paid billions just to hire some 28 year old, simply because he started a company that promised good data to train models with.

Lacking actual direct control, AI gen is more like searching an infinite booru. Which is fine. It's no different from commissioning art rather than creating it.

This person doesn't exist. AI users calling you retards gatekeepers is making fun of you for acting like there is a gate to keep. You are trying to gatekeep and failing.
