What the fuck is wrong with you.
The game is build around using different blood codes and unlocking their abilities. Over time, you will find your preferred playstyles.
You can play solo just fine. Or use some of the not so strong companions. Or just pick those that you like.

I haven't seen enough gameplay to judge what it's like, but I don't think a story connection to the first game is that important. As long as it's fun to play then whatever. First game already killed evolution man so there was never any chance of the best character coming back anyway.

I'm convinced what they're going to release is CV in name only. It completely feels like a project that had NOTHING to do with CV that the publishers knew wasn't going to sell at all, so they just slapped the title on it.
The first game ended 100% in a way that requires an almost immediate continuation. What we appear to be getting is some "10,000 years later" bullshit with zero characters that we recognize.
I'm only really salty that it's being touted/named the sequel to CV as opposed to just another game in the God Eater universe. This being the sequel removes the possibility of ever getting an ACTUAL sequel. The opportunity cost of this game is immense - similar to FF7R (though nowhere near as large of a cost as 7R was).

Played the game with companions all the way through, and I don't remember a single instance when they were a hindrance or detriment.
At worst, they help not that much, but even drawing the additional aggro or the extra stagger and damage helps.
They tend to stay firmly behind you, so they also don't tend to activate enemies by themselves.

It has the same director and producer, so I'm confident that while it's obivously a Final Fantasy Sequel esque new take with similar ideas and motifs, it'll still "feel" like a Godeater / CV thematically.

And honestly I think that's a good thing. I'd much rather they not spoiler the perfect ending of CV. Telling a whole new story and not being bound by the concepts of the original will allow more creativity.

Honestly I don't think so. I think the ending literally works perfectly as a left open, imagine it for yourself, happy ending.

Right before the end of the game they will pull some lore bullshit and it will turn out it was actually the CV/GE universe ALL ALONG except by that point you would have already quit the game because none of the game itself has anything to do with anything

I'm also a little miffed that this won't be following up on the first game at all but so long as it still feels like a game that fits into the created CVGE universe, and the plot itself is good, I'll be fine.
I think they could save this game by using the time travel plot to set up for God Eater 4 or some shit though. Maybe show us exactly how the world went from Revenants to God Eaters.
