How is Unicorn Overlord for someone who is looking for a fun tactics game? I just got a switch 2 so I want to expand my library.

UO is a good entry level strategy game with a solid gameplay loop and lots of great designs.
13 Sentinels is an amazing VN and vanillaware's best work

UO is 1000x better than Fire Emblem, so if you had to pick between the two, choose it. It's probably one of my most favourite Switch games.

13 Sentinels is more of a visual novel with a strategy minigame added onto it as a second narrative. It's a lot more braindead if you want a strategy game, but if you're looking for an intersting sci-fi story, it's amazing. I recommend it for the narrative and art, though, the startegy game, I think, deserved more time in the oven as it's interesting but short and super easy.

It’s fun but too easy, even on highest difficulty. It plays very similarly to Ogre Battle. I’d also recommend triangle strategy

Well, that's only something you can know.
Don't expect in-depth dating mechanics, but you are bound to like at least a couple of the girls.

Great and there are tons. But just don’t expect a huge amount of story for each of them individually. In some ways UO is kind of a gacha game with all the shitty gacha stuff removed.

It's fun, I liked it, but the "tactics" are 90% in the party preparation screens. There is minimal importance placed on positioning, you just make death squads that kill everything and move them towards the enemy.

13 Sentinels is basically a visual novel so that's up to you if you're into that or not.

Pretty good. Beyond just the aesthetic one of my favorite aspects of the game is customizing your formations and getting to play with a bunch of team synergies. It can be a bit opaque at first but eventually you get a good combination of abilities and units together and it's fun to see them do well on the battlefield. It's not the most difficult or tactical game on normal so I'd say if you find yourself having trouble bump the difficulty up.

Not really a tactical game, more of a visual novel. There are battle segments but these aren't super tactical. It's a fun game and definitely worth checking out but you'll be spending way more time in the visual novel segments than the battles.

How about Fire Emblem Engage? I just got a switch so I'm running through the exclusives.

I absolutely loved it.

The story is pretty straightforward but it's held up by fun gameplay, amazing visuals and strong characters. It doesn't waste your time, it's engaging from start to finish and it's one of the best games I've played in the last few years.

Highly recommended.

How does an autobattler have tactics?

I’m going to be very brief in my response, but know that OB64 is my favorite game of all time and I have 180 hrs in UO
Unicorn Overlord is a 9/10 game held back to 7/10 because of one mechanic:
The ability to move units in the pre-battle screen and see the outcome. Yes, this boils down to

The ability to see your well thought out formation is going to get creamed, VS if you throw your mage and archer in the front row you’ll suddenly win, breaks any illusion of difficulty.

The only time I ever used items was in TZ mode and even then you're limited to 5. I never used Hollow Corne Ash either, always saved it for a really really bad moment that never came to pass.

Extensive formation and unit design. Think of it like playing the style of strategy game where you and your opponent preassign actions and have simultaneous turns. Plus you do have full control in the field map maneuvering portions of each combat.
