What a shame. The development must have been INCREDIBLY mismanaged considering how much interest there was in it, how Riot literally funded them and supported them, and they still just ended up cancelling everything in the end anyway.
Shit could have been finished and released ages ago if they didn't sell themselves to Riot. The trailer from 6 years ago showed that most stuff was already done. Incredible how you fuck it up this bad.

At least we know have certainty. Nothing worse than obvious vaporware that never gets cancelled so you keep this little bit of hope that it does actually get released and won't suck.

They tried to "get ahead" of the community by naming it something that's already abbreviated and somehow came up with something that's more awkward than just saying "Double Knockout"
When I first heard of them rewriting the engine from the ground up, that was when I started to doubt them ever releasing the game. Fast-forward and they apparently changed in-house engines like 4 ( if not 5 )times before cancelling the project

Hytale died the day that Riot (Tencent) bought Hypixel Studios. I heard that they forced Hypixel to scrap most of the game and start coding it from scratch in another engine just to make it playable on phones

This happened before one of them got sick. This is what made me drop the whole thing because their twitter was really passive-aggressive about it.
