100% Matchmaking and the sheer ineptitude of the bots.
Enjoyed it in the hopes that I wouldn't eventually get to play the "real" game, but I knew it would never come after I hit rank 50. The match that made me quit was me and a Panda who was clearly new playing Assault against a Discord-organized 4-man premade squad. We managed to hold B1 for a few minutes, and I even got a final funny moment where their Vlad of all people said shotgun slugs needed to be nerfed more, only for their Erwin, who I played against many times and was also in the 50s, to point out that you might as well just delete the Home Defender at that point since literally the only thing it has going for it over any other weapon is that it could kill massive bodies quickly if you had perfect aim and could land a double headshot.
Then I died once from Vlad's ult cannon, and were already at the next stage before I could even run back to to defend it. I had to watch as they literally ran past some bots to start capping the point without even bothering to shoot them, and it was at that was the moment where I knew I was permanently done.

Season 2 needed more to pull people back in and bring in new people. That 25% discount for Summer Sale isn't nearly enough to convince people that didn't want to buy in at $13. A single male character, that looks visually plain compared to the rest of the cast, is underwhelming as a face for the season. Only one new map being ready and the custom rulesets being delayed aren't doing them any favors either. Another monetization push is in the pipe and will probably be another flop like the Kite Festival mess. At least the new guns could be fun.
The pending balance pass is a mixed bag too. Touched a few things that needed it, left some untouched, and made some worse. Wolf buffs... b/c? The few soft counters to tiger's ult being nerfed is hilarious and will be a problem(unless the croc is OP and shuts him down). Floor is always lava cancer (mostly)untouched.

TLDR: at least one too many retards in management to stop the bleeding.
