A lot of people played it in my high school. But beyond that, once the internet started to become mainstream in the late 90s/early 2000s, FFTactics was one of the most talked about games along with FF7 and 8. It was because of its proximity to the other bigger FF games. But you always had those people who went "FF7/8 sucks. FFTactics is the greatest written story in history." and "it's good because it's so deep/mature for a mature gamer like me." These things became memes because back then, people were saying it unironically and way too often.

I thought FFTA 2 would be shit since no one talks about it but I actually liked it a lot more than FFTA and now I'm kind of sad they never made an FFTA3

FFTA was marked like crazy compared to a normal FF spin off.

The first time I even found out FFTA2 existed was seeing it on a shelf at gamestop.

I genuinely am surprised not a lot of video games actually have the "escapism" is bad twist. It's so fucking meta you think all the game devs would stroke their dick over it.
