A lot of CPUs have an "operative" limit. Meaning if it sat at X degrees in perpetuity it would operate no problem. They also have an upper limit in which it'll just shut down.
Assuming your "expensive CPU" is a 9800x3d, I wanna say it's safe operating limit is like 95 degrees, and it shuts itself off at around 115-125 or somewhere about there. So as long as you're not sitting consistently at like 100 degrees you don't have to worry about your shit bricking. Though your room will definitely be hotter if you have a 90 degree chipping running constantly.

My PC is about 7 years old at this point. It still has the original old GTX 1060 6GB. I wonder if I should just update the graphic card now or wait a couple of years and replace the whole thing. Download hwmonitor to see how your computer is faring temperature wise.

Overheating is the fast track to system failure. if you have decent cooling system your computer can handle 100F degree ambient temperatures. You will reach thermal throttling much faster in those conditions. Computer is also expelling that heat to your room making it much uncomfortably hot.
Generally sustained temperatures over 100-110C range will trigger overheat protection and force a shutdown. You change change the settings of overheat protection in UEFI/BIOS. I don't really recommend doing that.

My window and my PC's case were both open last night and there was a green butterfly in my room similar to pic related. I tried to guide it outside towards the open window but it flew past me and right into the open case where it got swallowed by my GPU's fan. I quickly turned the PC off and found it still in one piece under the fan with a slighly torn wing but still alive. I removed my GPU and gently nudged it out of it with a pen and put it outside. The butterfly survived but just an hour ago my PC shut itself down and now it won't turn on, the lights are on but the fans don't move at all when I press the button.

They average like 60°F minimums even in July unless you’re up in the highlands. Your best bet for that kind of cold is Tierra del Fuego or parts of New Zealand maybe. My main display started overheating and turning off after using it for 3 hours or so. It didn't do this last year. Turn off turbo clocks and this will never happen. You lose 10% cpu performance and that's all, in return the cpu will never go above 60C. If you are on a budget chip, it won't even reach 50C with a decent cooler.
