Replayed that yesterday for the first time in years. Original copy can't be played anymore (apparently they removed - for security reasons, had a laugh on that one - a component from windows that was used for DRM, making the original copy impossible to lauch), so I had to fan patch.
Is it me or does the fan patch does a lot more than restoring cut content?
I remember the blood systems to be pretty different (heal was a command that had a cost, the auto-regen leaves with A LOT less feeding pressure) and the game to be balanced differently. I don't remember the Ming Xiao fight to be THAT excruciating for one.
All in all, I love it to bits, it's a classic for a reason - very few games do what Bloodlines does when it shines - but at the same time it's very uneven and very primitive script-wise when you're down to it. It's a travesty the genre hasn't produced anything building from that and into more interesting/complex variaitons after all these years.
>>713464883Just started Still Wakes the Deep... I really hope Bloodlines 2 is going to be at least decent enough, but it's hard to get enthused looking at the studio's previous efforts.
At the very least, what little they've shown of traversal in dev diaries looks nice.
