Is it okay to still play video games at 40?
>>713467689 (OP)If you have a refined taste for it, sure.
If your opinon is still 'I like everything' then it's probably time to end it all.
>>713467885this. unless your 'refined taste' is fromslop
>>713467689 (OP)Yeah. I'm 42 and I'm playing Dune: Awakening with some friends. It's been pretty rad so far. Fun times ganking plebs and having ornithopter dogfights in the deep desert.
>>713468229Do you still live in your mom’s basement too?
>>713467689 (OP)My dad played games my entire life. We got a PS1 because he thought Medal of Honor looked cool. He played Plants vs Zombies so religiously my sister's kids remember the music like a subliminal lullaby because he would play it every night.
His dad bought/built an entire gaming computer in the early 00's because my cousin showed him a video of Mech Warrior and he thought the idea of having an arcade cabinet in his house was neat. He was the most computer illiterate person I've ever met up until that point.
My point is, do whatever you like for as long as you like it and dont be afraid to try new hobbies as you get older
theres something in my brain that flipped around 35, i stopped enjoying games BUT it was replaced with wanting to create, to fulfill my potential. I think childhood is learning how things work, young adult is getting good at manipulating things according to how they work (gameplay), and mid adulthood is taking what you've learned knowledge-wise, and then skill-wise, and now go forth and leverage them to do something. In the past it would have been starting a family or building a business, not sure what it would be now
Brother I'm 42 and I still play classic games and some new shit (currently finishing Expedition 33). I also drink every other day and see a hooker once a week.
None of this shit I tell my friends and family. What I do in my private time is between me and God.
>>713469321>I also drink every other dayquit before it's too late.
>>713467689 (OP)If you have to ask, you're not mature enough
>>713468463no I live in your mom's basement lmao
>>713467689 (OP)You should be focusing on your job and family at that age, time spent on them will be a lot more fulfilling than wasting it on gaming.
>>713471010this, it's time to put down the toys, op.
>>713470104>>713470057He won’t be seeing 52, don’t worry…
Yeah 44. Still play games, but most new ones don't do anything for me because by this age you've seen everything done a thousand times. And whenever a new game comes out, you can instantly spot which older games its ripping off.
I still play new games, to see what's happening, now and then i find one i like. But i mostly play older shit. I have a list a mile long of studios i love, and hundreds of games they made that i've still not tried, so i'll have enough interesting shit to play for the rest of my life (which may not be that long but who knows).
>>713467689 (OP)Here's a hint about most men over 35. We don't care what people think. KYS if you're worried about other men like a faggot women.
>>713467689 (OP)Pixel art like this is always so absolutely soulless
Be 42, never married or had kids. On trajectory to retire by 50 with house paid off and live like a king till i get put 6 feet under.
All my friends with kids will be lucky to retire by 67 as kids drained huge chunk of their finances. Every time see them consistently stressed about kids education and having enough money to do fun things.
>>713469321Based. I have been going to amp's a couple times a month.
>>713472843yeah but their kids will basically be their retirement. if you get very sick you won't be able to retire.
>>713473052rotting away living in a chaotic household with kids and grandkids not exactly a "retirement"
Granted if I get sick with some life changing disease like cancer can screw my finances over but i'm hoping my investments grows big enough to handle the medical bill swings.
>>713472843>live like a kingHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
more like anything BUT a king, a king usually had kids it was one of their top priorities
>>713473196you're rotting away either way...except spending time with family will brighten you life.
>>713473196>rotting away living in a chaotic household with kids and grandkids not exactly a "retirement"what a miserable piece of shit you are. it's good your faggot ass decided not to breed
>>713467689 (OP)>is it ok to do [thing] at [age]Do what thou willt shall be the whole of the law.
>>713467689 (OP)As I’m 31, I ask myself this question at times.
Can I see myself in 10 years, lets assume with a wife and kid, still sitting down for a session of total warhammer or w/e I’m into?
I sorta doubt it, but more out of not being able to than not wanting to.
I imagine I’d keep it to a minimum at best.
>>713473052huge meme. your kids will become adults and live their own lives.
>>713475427do you have your own kids that grew up?
>>713471768this. it helps that i'm not a sperg and have a wife and kids though, i feel like i have already won.
>>713467689 (OP)i don’t know man, i feel like a massive manchild but i can’t stop
>>713475537if you're really banking on your kids as your "retirement", have fun with that
My late grandpa played vidya all the way to his grave. He's been dead for 20 years now.
43 here. I just finished off FFVI (pixel remaster) yesterday as I got an urge to replay an old FF game a week ago and landed on VI. I have been trying to squeeze in an hour or so of Counter Strike 2 every night, but now that the major is over for this half of the year I will probably stop that until October - November when the playerbase heats up again running up to the next major.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing the XCX remaster earlier this year. I have a wife and kids and playing co-op games with them has been great. Terraria, 30XX, Streets of Rage 4, hell even just Stick Fight is great entertainment for us all for an hour or two.
A hobby is a hobby. I don't give a fuck what others think. I'm successful, I have a family, a career, a house, etc. I don't care what my neighbors spend their free time doing and I doubt they care how I spend mine.
>>713467689 (OP)My dad is 60 and plays video games
Why do you care what others think?
>>713475223All of your hobbies will disappear for a few years while your kid(s) are very young. You quite literally will not have the time or energy to squeeze in more than the odd hour or two here or there. Once they start to get older / more independent you will ease back into your hobbies and free time.
>>713468508>bought/built an entire gaming computeras opposed to half of a computer?
