technically it was Duck Hunt/SMB3/SMW with my parents, but my earliest memory and the game that really made me fall in love with vidya was picrel. i have a vivid memory of reading the dialogue out loud when i didn't know how to read yet and my mom corrected my pronunciation of "busy"

It technically was super Mario 3 because my dad loved the snes but this is one of the furthest in my memory of remembering.

Weird how 1999 is so memorable for me but I can hardly remember 2000 or 2001

Not actually totally sure this is the first game I ever played, but it's probably the main one I remember playing very young.
If it wasn't actually my first game then it would have been GoldenEye, Ocarina of Time or Tekken 3 on the PS1

atari 2600 port of centipede was fucking awesome, although crude visuals it really captures the arcade gameplay.

Missile Command also was a great port.

It was probably like 1990 or 1991, my dad had something like this [picture] that (you) hooked up to the TV and it only played PONG. KINO times before I got into 1990s Star Wars games like Dark Forces and X-Wing vs Tie Fighter on the family DOS PC. Also, before I got my SNES.

I remember playing starfox and mario world, but not sure which one was my first game. I know my first video game-related dream was about Star Fox. It was some weird level where it was just a never-ending parade of these things, and one of my bros was playing it as I watched. For a time, I thought it was a real level and tried everything I could to find it.

I didn’t understand the concept of programming flags so I ended up grinding with a charmander before delivering Oak’s parcel. You could grind in one field and also on the route to Victory Road before the first badge checkpoint. I thought that was the whole game and I didn’t realize until a few years later that the Pokemon show was based off of this obscure game, there were surprisingly a lot of anime-only fans of Pokemon that didn’t believe me when I told them it’s a weird gameboy game. Anyways I ended up grinding to a charizard before I randomly talked to an npc and delivered Oak’s parcel. Then I understood how game flags worked afterwards. I still never caught other pokemon and just tanked through the whole game with the charizard and also recruiting one or two pokemon for hm moves.

Some of my first video game memories were from my uncle bringing his ps1 when the family got together at my grandparents. I remember playing the shit out of that game, Jedi power battles, and some extreme sports game where you raced with bikes roller blades and bikes.
The first game I actually ever bought with my own money was Rome total war at a scholastic book fair of all things.
