It was my favorite console of gen 7. I never took to the 360 or PS3. I also don't care for the Xbox One or PS4 or Series X|S or PS5.

I stuck around for the Wii U which deserved a whole lot better than it got since it could have opened things up to new types of games. Switch was interesting in the beginning then I got bored. Now I'm basically PC only with retro console/handheld setups which I assume is where most people end up after playing games since at least the NES, SNES and Genesis like I did.

Not necessarily. I was much more of a SEGA guy growing up. While I liked the NES, N64, and the Wii, I didn't connect with the SNES like everyone else seemed to and I honestly do not care for the Gamecube. Handhelds though I liked the OG Gameboy, the GBA SP, the DS Lite and DSi.

Well it's almost useless with Dolphin existing but the console itself was great, yes. As much hate as the motion controls get they actually genuinely felt fresh and enhanced quite a few games. If you aren't a crybaby Zelda SS is amazing with them. Red Steel 2 is also one of the most underappreciated games ever.

Also should add that I loved the Genesis, had a Game Gear, would have begged for the Saturn if I knew it existed at the time (got an N64 and PS1 though so it was still great) and the Dreamcast was fantastic to me even though it was only around for a short time.

Well it's a linear dungeon crawler that doesn't even want to have a lot of open loop. Unlike every other Zelda, there isn't even an overworld connecting dungeon areas. This bothered me a lot back then but after Zelda becoming open-world slop I learned to appreciate SS a lot more. There is a lot of good gameplay, level design and art in it.

For it's time, yes. It was fun system with cool spin on how you can play games. I was 10 when it came out and had a blast with it. Plenty of great nintendo kiddie games on it if thats your thing, the motion controls were fun and worked decently well. There were some games that were ported to it that also added support for motion controls like star wars the force unleashed, I've seen people say they loved TFU on ps3 but didn't like that it was graphically downgraded for the wii which is completely understandable, but I had the fucking time of my life getting to actually swing the saber by swinging the remote and shit around. That shit was so fucking dope as a kid, made you feel like you were actually doing it. Monster hunter on it was pretty tight, brawl was fun and me and my friends favorite game to play together, and in the current day its definitely worth keeping around for emulating/modding games. Also it was pretty cool of nintendo to at least acknowledge the issue of kids playing games and not moving around enough, wii sports and wii fitness were pretty cool. Overall it was a pretty fun and innovative console for it's time in the kid/family demographic. I got my grandpa to play wii sports and wii fitness with me.
