Age of Calamity is easily my favourite musou game and by a pretty decent margin. And I started replaying it after I got my Switch2 and I'm liking it even more now.
Granted that the theme and premise of Age of Imprisonment looks worse. And aside of Mineru, the old heroes never seemed interesting.
But the BotW characters are likely to return. They've been pretty good with adding OCs so those might be cool too.
And maybe we'll actually get a playable dragon-hybrid Zelda through some bs this time.
I'm guessing they'll also make the ancient hero's aspect playable somehow, but that thing I'm not even expecting to like.

I do hope they make NPC armies and allies play more of a role though.

Yeah that was kind of my point. They were nothing-characters.
And the fact that they were basically just our beloved champions but re-skinned and face-less, also makes it kind of difficult for me to imagine what could even be done with them in the scenario that they do try to make them into interesting characters.

I'm not saying it can't be done and maybe they'll even succeed. But I'm not exactly optimistic.
We had close to zero context surrounding the ancient world outside of how Rauru and Sonia apparently had an impressive kingdom and how Ganondorf was rampaging and conquering the lands. So it was kind of really difficult to care for these faceless old heroes since we didn't know anything about them outside of how they wished to stop Ganondorf.

Question is if AoI will have present day characters, and if Yona will be playable. Honestly, way I see it, there's no excuse not having bringing back the characters from AoC.
