As overrated as Last of Us is, I still think Bill was one of the best homo characters ever portrayed in vidya. Bitter, mean, paranoid, cantankerous, had someone he loved and he threw it away because he prioritised survival, greed, and detachment. He was a warning to Joel, about what you can turn into and what can happen, and I thought it was executed perfectly.
Then the show came along and fucked it all up by giving it a whole romance episode and beating you over the head with the message that was delivered so well in the game.
I think the show and the second game prove that without tard wranglers Neil is too up his own ass and activism-driven to deliver anything good.
