FFX and FFX-2 are a product of it's time, nothing made by square today will capture the amount of soul these two games have, X-2 being the most soulful.
A sequel will never capture the same magic, it will just be a poor imitation of itself. they'll try to overcorrect some things and overappeal on others, and this appeal will be for the same FF7, KH3, FF14 crowd, an appeal to modern audience, standards, sensibilities and newer game design ideas that aren't for the better. They will remove problematic things. Redesigns that feels like it's own creator was trying to revisit his own work years after his inspiration was put on paper, but with a supervisor telling him how to capture something and others to avoid. You can see this with every entry of KH, and how Sora's design gets worse over time, but his character has also gotten assassinated, all the edges from previous entries being sanded off, the level, character, and world design taking a nose dive, over all, it's been nothing but deterioration at square, from talentless new blood, to aging devs who've lost their touch, which is not their fault, for the most part.
FF-X3 will be like FF7remake/rebirth.
The only game to come close to this level of soul from the 00's Square was Stranger of Paradise, but SoP was ruined by normie's reception after its reveal and was altered slightly by taking out some soul out of it, and never fully reaching it's true soul.
