Do you use alternative control schemes?

I really should learn ESDF but that also means rebinding every single game and I severely doubt it is going to actually make me a better player. Especially single I'm squarely into the comfy single player life these days.

Same except pl;'
I used the numpad before but then I got a TKL and this is actually way nicer especially since I can just mirror the controls when rebinding.

I'm not even left-handed, my dad is.

>F for forward
>B for backward
>L for left
>R for right
>J for jump
This is the most intuitive control mapping
Anonymous No.713511534 [Report]
For me it's
>, is forward
>o is back
>a is left
>e is right

only for emulation

C = X / A
X = Square / X
Z = Circle / Z
Shift = Triangle / Y
S = L1
D = R1
CTRL = L2
Space = R2
Q= Select
W = Start

It is flatout better for games where you want lots of inputs as you can an additional column of easy to reach keys around the movement keys (this case being ESDF) without moving your keyboard much further.

If you wanted to be really hardcore you'd use something like TFGH for movement and have your hand in the middle of the keyboard buuuuuuut that is much harder to learn with all the keys nearby being the same size. With WASD and ESDF you can still reach tab, caps lock, shift etc and those keys being larger if additional tactile feedback that matters.

ESDF makes sence because your hand rests naturally on the home row for typing.
If you use WASD, you're cattle. You're the type of person who sticks to defaults and never checks the settings.

No because
>vast majority of games come with pre-defined WASD scheme
>ESDF/RDFG/TFGH are mostly pointless because 99% of games don't use so many keys that I need the extra keys on the left of my hand

no all you need is a custom d key with a little bump on it. as long as your middle finger can feel centered the rest will easily become muscle memory. you also have the keyboard slightly slanted

/v/ doesn't use NKRO boards so wasd is fine.

i tried RAGE after someone suggested it as a joke
it's absolutely fantastic
mouse thumb button for scope or melee is another one that is peak comfy
Anonymous No.713515138 [Report] >>713516531
People vastly underutilize mouse buttons, I've found. I use the thumb back button for reloading, thumb forward for quick melee, middle mouse for grenades in every FPS since the first CoD. I put stuff like skill activations on them in other games, basically anything you want to access quickly and often. It also allows me to map "use" to E in every game, especially the ones who put it on F, which I find a little more awkward to hit.

I tried RAGE for a bit, but found that having all four movement buttons constantly available makes no real difference, due to them being exclusive anyway. As in, what's the point of having the forward and the backward buttons both on lock, when you can only move in one of those directions at a time, and one of them is used much less often? It also made interacting and sprinting more awkward, because you no longer have the shift key in a nice and accessible spot. Basically, the resting hand position of the RAGE setup is more comfortable, but it kind of falls apart in use.

if wonder if keyboards that support SOCD would shake this up a bit, especially combined with rapid trigger like features.

I've been using mouse4 for action and mouse5 for reload pretty much ever since I got a mouse with those buttons.

yeah i ended up using f as backwards and a takes the place of the shift key, occasionally i press d instead of f but that's almost completely gone away

I did "discover" ESDF long ago (during CS1.5) and felt like a genius for a while.
Them I got fucking bored of having to rebind everything on every game and got back to WASD.
It was only worth it for shit like old WoW, when you could easily have 30+ abilities that were all needed.

I wish I wasn't so used to WASD because ESDF is objectively superior

I gave a specific reason when ESDF is superior. But thanks for demonstrating WASD cattle are retarded and can't even read.

You gave a reason why not using wasd might be beneficial for less than 1% of games, you absolute bouffon.
