I'm finally done with the game, kinda sad, had a lot of fun playing.

Forgive my rambling, it's been 10 years since I played the original, but I remember that Fantasy Life 3DS seemed to respect your time a lot more, and integrated pretty much all of its content into the main fantasy world. There was no dumping 1000 years into the treasure trove and 1000 years into ginormosia to get everything. Then there's the fact that all of the characters had a story role, you were in a cohesive fantasy, almost like a timeless JRPG, but in the sequel it feels like the majority of the characters are just kind of uprooted from their lives and dropped into some random shitty little island that can only have 6 houses, and they just sort of accept it. Fantasy Life 3DS felt more like a world, a fantasy that you can get lost in, not just a grind that makes you aware you're wasting your time on a video game. The grinding and the gameplay and the world design were all balanced. Maybe not perfectly, but well enough. It also helped that in the original, you could choose your character's sex and there were unique and exclusive outfit variants for each one. That made you feel more like a character in a world, that kind of thing helps you get immersed, and you feel less like you're controlling a sexless inhuman animated doll homunculus thing. And you could name your mounts and keep pets in the original, too. And speaking of mounts, they didn't really do a single thing to enhance that mechanic in the sequel, when there was so much room for improvement in that department.

That said I still enjoyed it, the gameplay loop is still good for the most part and it does have some soul, I especially like Rem, but it is sort of a weak sequel and the postgame gets more painful the further you go. Hopefully some of the updates make that better at least.

My friend figured out the process and explained it to me.
Before the next day, vacate all of the neighbor's buildings and put 3 buddies with the same crafting life in them, leave the other 3 empty.
Collect flowers.
2 of the 3 crafters should have requests.
Talk to them, then refuse to do them.
If you don't have either out, reset the island by going into Hagram mode.
Get into contact with a different buddy who will run up to you either to give you their strangeling or an emote.
^ Must happen otherwise the 3rd crafter won't give you anything.
Go into the 3rd crafter's home and sleep on the bed until you see the buddy at the crafting table.

I got hero with all lives but it seems like there's still so much to do. I think archer is my most lvled live at 80 and my other combat lives are far behind. I don't even have the last strangling as I am still gathering golden flowers and I have only one true weapon (the bow). I'm trying to decide if I should take a break soon and wait for the dlc.

you would just do the altar, then when you finish the floor you continue from any branching point in a room you previously cleared
if you're autistic you could full clear your groves instead of making a beeline to the exit, not that you'd have any reason to do that given that the bosses and special rooms are the main reason you'd do them.

You can skip all tutorial missions, but you can't replay the scenes and miss out on characters' personalities and lore that are showcased in the tutorials. Doesn't matter if you don't care for them.

We only had access to 8 bridges+slopes+stairs before a patch increased it to 20.
We had to manually plant all 9 squares of each 3x3 plot and water all 9 squares before the most recent update allowed us to auto-plant and auto-water 3x3 plots with just 2 button presses.

I build some stuff and dig a huge swastika, but didn't really decorate, yet. I assume that's the endgame after 400 hours.
It boots up very fast on Switch 2, so quite easy to hop in daily.

Not as good in a lot of things. Much better in QoL changes.

Overall, you can still enjoy it as long as you don't try to 100%. IT becomes an annoying as hell grind if you do thanks to gacha like RNG in the endgame.
