Few games supports HDR still and even if it does it can be ass like RE Engine HDR.
But if it works the light/dark contrast and true black are nice to look at.
Also the higher color depth makes the image appear higher res than it actually is.

HDR is like high refresh rate or VRR, once you've used it you've spoiled any chances of going back

Yes. It does. You don't know how much you missed it until you tried it.

It's your civic duty to bully anyone who posts game screenshots that look slightly less saturated, those were taken with HDR on and the posted is a lazy bum who should turn it off before taking the picture.

This discussion never leads anywhere because most people who have tried HDR have done so on monitors and televisions that aren't really capable of taking advantage of it, so they see some washed-out colors or things like that, and think it's garbage.
HDR is an objective improvement for image representation. It's like resolution: the higher the resolution, the better, but now you're talking about your monitor's ability to display different colors. However, you need an ideal situation to take advantage of HDR, and most consumers are not in that situation right now. Not even those who are spending small fortunes on OLED panels, since OLED often doesn't allow the brightness to go very high so as not to burn out the pixels and ruin the screen in two weeks.
