Borderlands needs some funny and annoying characters, they just have to be in limited doses and you get to kill most of them. The biggest problem with Borderlands 3 was a lot of the annoying characters were your allies and the game treated them like lovable buddies not infuriating faggots.

The entire villain schtick was trash though. The characters actually had and interesting backstory but were portrayed as the worst kind of zoomer-talking twitch streamer piece of shit. It was too memey and forced.

Borderlands worked best in 1, when it was somewhat grim and desolate, the juxtaposition of the humor contrasted well with the cannibal psychos screaming about wearing your skin, and i liked how the background had these massive intergalactic soulless corporations hinting at a really dystopian setting. But no, everyone in the galaxy is a snarky post-ironic quipster, except if you're a bad guy, then you're irredeemably evil and self aware of that fact. 2 was a mistake.

The writing is the one thing that's been criticized since 2 and upwards. 2 got a pass but people said it was bordering annoying. Everything past thing upped it for the worst for some reason .
