Give him one of those rock saw things and make him do more damage based on temp health via one of his Exemplar talents, get the cloak that gives temp health on hit and the armor that gives deflection based off of carouse and he quite literally can't die while doing thousands of damage per swing.

I did it guys, I made it through character creation! And thus begins another immersive 200+ hour journey. This time I'm doing Grimdark on Daring, I was so excited for this day because I wanted to do my 2nd playthrough, but wanted to wait for the DLC to come out since its integrated seamlessly throughout the Acts and wanted a fresher experience. For all its flaws, I still really really enjoy this game quite a lot

It's still pretty easy on the max preset difficulty. If you want a challenge (as in you actually might need to retry encounters), then you need to turn all the difficulty sliders to their maximum values.
Keep in mind that this will likely change the way you build however, as the lowered momentum gain means you won't constantly be popping heroic acts and the enemy accuracy boosts mean that you can no longer build to the point that you can dodge/parry 95% of attacks.
On the otherhand, it makes a lot of unsung builds and abilities worth more since fights can last a solid amount of rounds instead 3 max.

I have to admit, Idira is kind of a hard sell at first glance. Unsanctioned psyker who starts saying cryptic bullshit and hearing voices and eventually summons a demon by accident, in 40k, is for the vast majority of Imperium officers an immediate execution waiting to happen. Honestly if it was an actual institution like the Imperial Guard I can't see Idira not getting executed on the spot. I've also seen a lot of players who pussy out on the gameplay aspect of things because they don't like the perils.

But you can get away with it since you're Rogue Trader and Idira is just so immensely loyal to you. I'd even go further and say Idira isn't just loyal, she's one of the very few people in your protectorate that you could consider a genuine, no reservations friend. She's got that sass that indicates she won't lie or suck up to you, and which is a probably an even better trait to have on someone who's main role is to warn you about the future. The big and main proponent for a new player to spare and try to save Idira initially is that Theodora risked a whole lot to keep her on her side and there must have been a reason, as the game advances the main reason is simply that Idira is great and you trust her. I think Owlcat definitely realized this which is why she's the only non-romance companion that you get an option like

Overseer is 2nd archetype so it doesn't compete with Warrior.
Overseer is great at buffing and going from Officer or Psy Buffer since the Skull pet shares all normal ability buffs like Voice of Command to the whole party, while the Raven does the same for all Psyker buffs, except for extra turn abilities in the case of both.
They can also spread offensive spells.
Eagle and Mastiff can be good for damage, but the pets above are better since they don't cost you any AP for what they do best, which is spreading buffs. Because as it stands unlike in Pathfinder you can have to pay your own AP to get the pets to attack, besides Mastiff.
Overseer does have one powerful offensive ability though that costs 1 AP, if you kill an enemy after using it, it gives you another attack/turn and fully refreshes the AP cost of the previous attack.
You can then combine that with an Overseer talent that makes the first ability in combat cost 0, or just Finest Hour from Officer upgrade that makes non offensive abilities cost -1
Point is you can start an extra turn with it, then once your true turn comes you essentially have 3 attacks even outside of Finest Hour

Did they make the game easier? I played it at launch and on Unfair I kinda struggled a bit on Act 1 (Then Idira and Cassia became OP and they solo'd the rest of the game). But now even in Act 1 I'M just plowing through everything. Is it just cuz I made my RT a Bladedancer instead of a sniper and gave Argenta a Flamer? Everything's exploding left and right. I just fought the Slaneeshi demon and I stabbed him with my RT and he teleported away but I had 20MP so I just walked at him and stabbed him again and it just died pathetically.

it's funny how as soon as you meet Solomorne in Act 2 basically there's always a dialogue option at the top that translates to the RT being a flirty whore and going "teehee just admit you're only doing this because you want to protect ME, Solomorne~~"

Bladedancer is the strongest base class due to all the attacks/turn potential and Trauma/Injury stacking buffs + extreme movement potential
Difficulty is the same but you get XP faster now in Act 1 with the DLC and you can even reach lv16 before the Chaos Marine if you squeeze all XP from Act 1, which makes it a breeze since Grand Strategist Pasqal & Cassia will steal his starting turn and completely shift the battle into your favor instead of having Aurora instantly killing 1-2+ allies with his alpha strike burst attack
Death World Bladedancer stacking the 2x +stat on Injury + Trauma talents and spamming Blood Oath + the talent that makes it give stacking movement is just ridiculous, you can legit solo battles in Act 1 even without an Officer buffing you

My initial assumption was that every companion would be introduced in Act I, either at Footfall or aboard the Rogue Trader's vessel.
From there you can either dismiss their encounter entirely or have them join your crew and it's not like it'd break scaling since everyone at that level is shit anyways. I suggest you wait until 20+ for Solormone then, ideally after getting nice items/passives from Dargonus, Foulstone & Janus Colony Events like Spirit Drape from Janus 3rd Colony event, Malpian Shround from Foulstone 1 and the amazing + Momentum on Psy/Navigator Power from Dargonus 3
And be careful with his solo battle since all allies besides the Vanguard Tank can die super easily, well, the other Warrior guy can tank a few hits too, what I mean by this is have Solomorne + the other Soldier archetype guy ALWAYS stay a the back behing cover, the dog will also die instantly to the enemies there
And definitely make Pasqal a Grand Strategist with Missionary Oath item, also Cassia as Grand Strategist, with both this way and Pasqal starting with Missionary Oath chances are you cannot physically lose, especially if you also go with Heinrix as Overseer with the new Raven pet and Spirit Drape so you can buff the whole party instantly with the best Divination + Biomancy buffs at around just 1 AP cost because of Spirit Drape

Also the Aeldari Torpedos from Janus colony event can help a lot during ship battles as they have no cooldown and can be spammed on very turn (+Torpedo Control from Jae or Yrliet upgrade).
If you aren't used to Ship Combat, then stay the FUCK away from it until you max the projects in Dargonus that give Navy Rep to get free ship upgrades for a nice start, and do NOT fucking do the Hundred Dreams system battle and also that other battle with a multitude of Drukhari ships in one of the northern systems until the very end of Act 2 after ALL other ship battles or even might as well save them for Act 3
Otherwise enjoy losing your Ironman run because of lolship combat
Oh, and stay the fuck away from the mutant station ship battle in Act 2 as well unless you know what you are doing otherwise you will 100% lose your run there
