I haven't touched this game in months. After all the playthroughs and the DLC, I've come to realize that this game is actually shit. I keep remembering how much padding exists and how much bs the bosses do with no reasoning or fairness at all. Even with summons, the game is built to annoy you. And the DLC is even more poisonous in this regard as it was made to effectively waste your time.

You know the phenomenon some people have where they feel ptsd after torture or trauma? That's how I feel looking at Elden Ring now. That game is psychologically not good for you. I don't walk away like I was pleased and happy. I walked away glad that it was over. This isn't a healthy design.

That's not the reason. You don't post about games you like because people will shit on them, so its safer to talk about games you don't have or like

You don't need to do every single trash dungeon. You can get whatever you need very quickly and then pursue whatever content you do like. In that way it's much less of a time waster than the previous games, in which there are very few optional areas despite the quality being about the same.

the linearity made it so you can get to said places far easier, especially when shortcuts opened. And you also could do the same where you ignore the stuff you didnt need.

>Point of the game is to not actually play the game, just skip to things you want to do

Ok and how the fuck is anyone supposed to know what this is without spoiling themselves through a wiki?
If the game is so bloated with shit that the best way to play is to ignore half of it, then the game is fucking shit

OoT is great. I recently did a playthrough for nostalgia. I haven't played the other two you listed but I've heard they're good. What's your favorite temple?

Ok, how do you figure out what content is worth doing on a 1st playthrough?
What about discerning gameplay only side content from story relevant side stuff?

What is it with people not enjoying dungeons? I got excited every time I found one. My only complaint with the game at the end was that there weren't more. The only parts of the game that aren't worth spending time on are overworld enemies.

I always love when people shit on the game and its just constant complaints about bosses and enemies and bullshit.
When people praise the game, its because of the sheer variety in playstyles and builds you can create to absolutely crush bosses and make everyone your bitch.
This game is a power fantasy and one of the most fun and rewarding games to make broken character builds with.

The game has been out long enough to know that this is false. Some challenges absolutely shit on you not using the optimal or top tier builds. Elden Ring is the first Souls game where you cant just build whatever and it'll work. Thats why there's constant advice about changing your build if a boss hardlocks you. This actually started in DS3.

Not even close. If anything people have figured out more viable builds as time has passed. Anything can be viable anywhere in the game. There's maybe a few exceptions like not using fire against the giant or not trying to poison rot-based enemies but that's sensible. If you want to kill Malenia in one hit, sure there's probably only one or two ways to do that but that's hardly the expectation towards most players. Otherwise you're free to play your way. Hell, people beat the game blindfolded moving only backwards using their fists and never getting hit.
