A source close to the matter has told me that one of the new games that Arc System Works is going to announce in their upcoming showcase (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNo1kEEiMSg) two days from now is a Fullmetal Alchemist fighting game (1v1, no tag) for PS4, PS5, Switch 2, and PC. It will be ASW's first ever 3D fighting game that allows the characters to side step like in Tekken, Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter etc.
The game is intended to be released as a full package from the get go and will not receive any update nor DLC post release. Full roster:

Why would FMA of all things get a modern fighter? It's kind of in that weird limbo of really popular with entry-level anime nerds a decade ago and but modern shonenbabbies don't care about it and it hasn't had a new work in a long time. I'd play it though, sounds like it could be just Soul Calibur FMA Edition. Lots of FMA characters use bladed weapons.

FMA only makes sense as an open world/open zone(teleport between areas via train) brawler with your set of tools doing missions in each place you visit.

Just make an HD collection of the PS2 FMA games at this point.
