I still play it because there's quite literally nothing else like it despite what everyone here will say. Every game that tries to copy COD just does it so much worse. I actually don't understand why it's so hard for a studio to make a COD clone with good movement, good killstreaks, or good gunplay. It's like every single dev that has tried is just generally incompetent at game development in general.

I was 17 when Call Of Duty released and I played it on release day. It was janky even back in 2003. The United Offensive expansion pack was better, but still had that underlying jank.

It's the only shooter that does it correctly. For all it's faults, COD has:
1. Most guns in an FPS game
2. Most gun customization in an FPS game
3. Gun skins are free
4. Has private and public lobbies where you can party with your friends
5. Has good movement
6. Has splitscreen
7. Well optimized
8. Isn't early access like many other shooters
9. Has good movement
10. Not jank
11. Has good netcode
12. Has the best gun animations

This is not a good thing. Gunsmithing killed arcade shooters. I don't want to change the screws and bolts of a single gun to make the game fun. Fuck gunsmithing, fuck gun bloat. Bring back pick ten.

Netcode is so bad players are thinking there is skill based damage in the game. There is, but not in regular PVP matches.

You are retarded, it was cutting edge graphics, story telling and gameplay and finally it was a military shooter where you could pick up the guns from npcs you killed.

every CoD game you can pick up and play instantly: just point and shoot. it's a tight loop between matches.

don't have to look up guides or walkthroughs its all muscle memory. obviously if you want to play effectively then you'd seek out sources

The netcode in BO6 is no worse than its competitors though, that's just how bad the modern fps market is. The optimization is also much better when compared to a game like 2042.

Even multiplayer runs at 20 hz servers. It's shit. 2042 runs at 45 hz servers. BF4 to 5 runs at 60 hz.
