In the old Valiant comics, it would protect its' bearer from being fucked with by the Triforce of power's direct attacks... so... dunno.
That being said, the Triforce of wisdom USED to give Zelda wisdom in the old cartoon, then magical knowledge (access to every spell?), now Zelda just has it because she's Hylia.
